Cariboo Cougars Net Weekend Sweep
Langley, B.C. — The Cariboo Cougars came back from a 1st period two goal deficit to down the Valley West Hawks 4-3 completing the weekend sweep.
After entering the second down 2-0, the Cougars scored twice midway through the frame evening the score thanks to a power play goal from Tyler Povelofskie and Braiden Epp’s second of the weekend.
The Hawks responded with 6:29 to go in the second to retake the lead 3-2. But Brad Morrison and Liam Blackburn scored 27 seconds apart to put the Cats up 4-3 heading into the third.
Blackburn’s third goal of the season stood up as the game winner as the Cougars improve to 4-0 on the season, outshooting the Hawks 35-18.
Nathan Warren earned his third win of the season in net for the Cats. Several Cougars finished the game with multiple points including Morrison and Blackburn with a goal and an assist each and Epp with a goal and two helpers.
The Cougars are back home next weekend to face the Vancouver NE Chiefs Saturday and Sunday at CN Centre.
