What Images Do You Want Visitors To See?
Prince George, B.C. – You are being invited to have the final say on the images that will be usedin the 2013 Northern B.C. Tourism Travel Guide.
Northern BC Tourism will post photos on Facebook, to be voted on by fans. The images that receive the most fan votes will be featured in a double-page spread in the magazine. There are five different sections that fan votes will determine the imagery for – the cover photo and introduction page, and section headings for Northeast BC, Northwest BC and Haida Gwaii.
“This is a great opportunity for locals to get involved in the voting process and show their community and Northern BC pride” said Clint Fraser, Strategic Planning and Marketing for the association. “We hope that all fans of Northern British Columbia will help create the travel guide and get the word out to their friends to vote, too.”
Voting for the travel guide images started yesterday and runs until October 26th. You can have your say by visiting Northern B.C. Tourism on Facebook and look for the “Photo Showdown”
Each year, 80,0000 copies of the Northern BC Travel Guide are printed and distributed throughout Western Canada and the United States, and mailed internationally by consumer request.

A reasonable gas price on all Sevice Station signs. Or maybe “Pay the highest price for gas in Prince George, we’re here for you”
Eighty cents/ liter would sufice but that could be improved.
I’m not from Northern BC, so I will not vote …. I live in the Central Interior of the province … ;-)
This constant whining about gas prices is almost as bad as that ‘other topic’ that used to get brought up all the time.
C’mon JohnnyBelt….you’re missing her. :)
Not really, but thanks for the comment! :)
How about a huge picture of our beautiful visitors centre on first avenue! The picture could have directions/map on how to get there. The visitors centre can do all the rest.
I’d like to see some comparative pictures of all the paving improvements around City Hall and then some of the potholed sections of other streets that haven’t been repaired. Also maybe some pictures of some of our ‘higher class’ rental housing in the hood with the owners’ names attached, so people looking for ‘affordable’ housing for the games could contact them.
There are no pictures of restaurants, museums, urban parks, streetscapes, accommodation, subdivisions, stores, etc. etc.
It is as if all visitors are here to see mountains and rivers. There are actually some visitors who are interested in seeing in how people live here, not just how wildlife lives here. I know it is not downtown Paris, but these are small Canadian communities which vary from those in the parts of the world they come from and vary from southern BC top northern BC and BC across Canada.
I also hope they will not use images of a the hotel which burned down in Dawson Creek since the only visible flag is te US flag. Many people already associate us far too much with the USA as far as I am concerned.
” …. constant whining about gas prices is almost as bad as that ‘other topic’..”
I know, a litre of beer, wine and liquor is also considerably less in the USA. In fact, much more so than gasoline.
IMO
You are all a bunch of knot heads! Knot one has read the article and let it sink in!
The usual standard cliche responses here. PG has some fantastic images that visitors enjoy already. Cutbacks, fort George park, UNBC, sports fields and venues, just to name a few. Plenty to be proud of and to move away from some people’s attempts to drag the city down to their bitter negative perception.
Cutbacks ? You mean the weeds on the boulevards ?
Knot heads…..Mr.PG must be a knot head!
Septic tank head, silly goose! Maybe when shopping at Costco, Save -on and the Stupidstore in PG the signs inside the stores can read “E-COLI FREE BEEF”. That would be a plus.
Well, I would like them to see PG on a nice sunny day or a Winter Wonderland but lets face it sunny days are long gone with facts of garbage pickup hikes, trips to China, new RCMP buildings,(Looks like some sort of Tenple downtown) Where is our money going but down the drain of this city’s council? Who cares that the seniors are snowed in? How about that it takes 5 calls to city hall to get some gutter drains to be cleared. Then they show up 8 months later at your door and ask “what is the problem?” Get a grip City Hall! You should abandon ship NOW!
Runner46: Maybe we are just tired of all the ‘fantastic imagery’ that the city tries to promote itself with all the time. Very little of it is associated with real life here.
It would be much better to have the visitors who come here be able to spread word of mouth, how great this city is rather than the city always trying to give the impression of something that it is not.
Maybe some shots of our ski hills, and i think fishing or lake resort pics are nice . We are world famous for our fishing! Iam certainly tired of tourists laughing at that tin can thing they call Mr. PG, can we not do something a little more classy to show tourists a bit of our logging/milling heritage.
Maybe get rid of the pulp chips and grit lining the road as you travel down the bypass and that smell in the air…. oh! that SMELL!
Maybe have someone on city council who did not say during the campaign, “We must have more people to come and live in Prince George in order to lower taxes”. (He got elected).
