YTD Housing Starts Up

Prince George, B.C.- The latest report on housing starts in B.C. by Canada Mortgage and Housing indicates there were starts of 27,199 units in September, down from 28,233 units in August.
"Housing starts in September in urban areas of British Columbia were in line with the six-month trend," said Carol Frketich, CMHC’s British Columbia Regional Economist.
In Prince George, the actual housing starts of single detached units in September were at 9, down from the 14 starts recorded in the same month a year ago. There were 2 multiple starts in September, unchanged from the same month a year ago.
The year to date starts in Prince George are up from last year, with 109 single detached starts as at the end of September, up from 92 for the same 9 months in 2011. As for multiples, they two were up, with 45 starts as of the end of September, up from 39 recorded in the same period last year.
