Friday, October 12, 2012 @ 10:34 AM
Vanderhoof, BC – The St. John Hospital in Vanderhoof will undergo $5 million dollars in renovations.
The upgrades were announced today. The project will be completed by 2014.
Funding for the project will come from the province, the Stuart Nechako Regional Hospital District and Northern Health.
The renovations will focus on the emergency department with improved patient flow, including a separate waiting room for families with patients in emergency care.
The entrance to the emergency will also be relocated to provide for easier access for ambulances.

The big question will be does it come with enough doctors to staff it?

One hour drive from PG. Less from Cluculz Lake.

Doctors can live in one place and have operating privileges in both, I believe. There are certainly doctors in PG who will do operations for their patients in Vanderhoof.

A one hour commute in the GVRD is acceptable …. Other than winter conditions, they should be here as well no matter whether for doctor or patient.

If we had elections every year then hospitals and such would not have to wait so long to get the funds they need.

Many a specialist and doctors go to Vanderhoof as they can get operating time better than they can in PG.

No operating hospital in Fort St James, so they can spend the money elsewhere. Just hope you don’t get seriously hurt in the Fort and can’t make it to Vanderhoof!

For a minute there I thought this story had read….The Fort St John Hospital Gets 5 Million Upgrade.

To which I would have replied…The Fort St John hospital was just built and they are getting a 5 million dollar upgrade?

I gotta quit drinking so much!
