Bond Says Disabled Make Good Workers

Prince George, B.C – Attorney General and Minister of Justice Shirley Bond, says "People should be valued for their differences” as she addressed the Prince George Chamber of Commerce on the subject of diversity in the workplace.
There are 344,000 British Columbians who are eligible to work but who are disabled. “We have jobs who are looking for people and that’s a pretty good place to be" said Bond, who encouraged Chamber members to hire disabled persons.
She wanted to dispel myths about hiring disabled persons. She says studies have shown disabled workers often perform better and are more loyal than their able counterparts.
Stats show this segment of the population has a higher level of education than the overall population of B.C.
Bond says having a job has a positive impact on a person’s health as it gives people pride and increases the sense of self worth.

Unfortunately for the disabled, Mexicans make good workers too…
Is it just me or did I have to do a double take to make sure that wasn’t a very colourful dunce hat on Ms. Bond.
Some one should have caught that before it was released to the media.
Good to give the disabled person a chance in the workforce. Even if its a few hours a week to start. Give them self confidence.
Hey Realist, plenty of people care, but are not in a position to change the way the system is operated.
There are a lot of people falling through the cracks in B.C, lost in the system.
Not only physically disabled people, but those who have mental health problems, addiction, etc.
metalman.
Hire the handicapped. Over tax them. Handicap the hired.
