Cougars Fall At Home to Calgary
Tuesday night in Prince George, the Cougars dropped a 5-0 score to the Calgary Hitmen. Zane Jones scored twice for Calgary while Brady Brassart and Brooks Macek each recorded three point games in the victory. Mac Engel came into the game late in the second period and turned aside all 20 shots he faced in his Cougars debut.
The Hitmen took a 3-0 lead into the first intermission. Brady Brassart opened the scoring off a nice pass from defenceman Alex Roach. Roach skated in from the left wing, and placed a nice pass into the goal mouth area that deflected off of Brassart and in for his sixth, and a 1-0 Calgary lead.
Zane Jones made it 2-0 when he received a pass in the slot area and beat Brett Zarowny glove side for his third of the season. Jaynen Rissling would add a late marker to give Calgary the 3-0 edge after one.
Zane Jones would strike again at 7:34 of the second period. Jones was able to beat Brett Zarowny from the right circle for his second of the night and his fourth of the season. Jake Virtanen then added a power play marker for Calgary to give them the 5-0 cushion after 40 minutes.
After stopping 28 of the 33 shots he faced, Brett Zarowny was pulled in favor of the newly acquired Mac Engel. Engel faced 10 shots in the back-portion of the second period and stopped them all. He would turn aside all 10 that he faced in the third period as well.
Early in the third, the Cougars thought they had scored, but the referee ruled that Jarrett Fontaine had put the puck into the net with a high-stick.
Overall the compete level was better in the third for the Cougars, but they were unable to solve Chris Driedger, who made 30 saves for his first shutout of the season.
Prince George finished the game zero-for-three on the power play while Calgary went one-for-three on their opportunities. The final shots on goal were Calgary 53, and Prince George 30.
The Cougars will take their 5-4-1-0 record into Kelowna for a Thursday night showdown with the Kelowna Rockets.

Attendence 1727. Some of these would be season ticket holders who didnt show, so the actual number of butts in seats would probably be less.
Where’s the fans???????
We try and make as many weekend games as we can. My kids are in grade school so making a mid week game is not possible.
I too would like to see more fans; the WHL is actually a pretty entertaining product. And it’s not that expensive. Buy your tickets in person and it’s even cheaper.
