Cariboo Cougars Look to Get Back to Winning Ways

Saturday, October 20, 2012 @ 4:37 AM

Prince George, B.C. — The Cariboo Cougars are back at home this weekend for a pair of tilts against the last place Kootenay Ice.

Coming off their first two losses of the 2012-13 season, the Cats look to keep their high powered offence going against the BCMML’s worst defence.

The Ice have allowed 45 goals against in just six games while scoring only five. The Cougars meanwhile are tied with the Hawks for the league’s second most potent offence with 37 goals in eight games.

Coming off a pair of one-goal losses to the Vancouver NW Giants, the Cougars know they cannot take the Ice for granted. Last season the Ice earned one of their five wins in Prince George thanks to some stellar goaltending from Brett Soles who stopped over 60 shots for a 4-3 Kootenay victory. It was the lone win on the year for the Ice against the Cats who went 3-1 in the season series outscoring Kootenay 31-12.

Heading into this weekend the Cougars sit tied with the Giants for second with 12 points.

This afternoon’s game features the 2nd annual Jameson Jones BC Children’s Hospital fundraiser with admission by donation. Puckdrop is set for 4:15pm with Sunday’s rematch at 10:15am. Both games will be played at CN Centre.
