Rash Of Break-Ins Prompts Call For Vigilance
Prince George, BC – A string of break-ins in two downtown neighbourhoods has prompted Prince George RCMP to ask city residents to keep an ‘extra eye’ out for suspicious activity…
Constable Craig Douglass says there have been more than a dozen break-and-enters in, and around, the Crescents Neighbourhood since the start of the month, with most of the incidents occurring during daytime hours.
Constable Douglass says there have also been several residential break-ins in the Connaught Neighbourhood, near 17th Avenue and Victoria Street. Douglass says these crimes, too, are occurring during the work day.
"We are asking persons to keep an ‘extra eye’ out for suspicious persons or activities, particularly in these neighbourhoods," says the RCMP’s Media Relations Officer. "If you observe a break & enter in progress, call 911 immediately. If you observe a suspicious person, vehicle, or event, call the non-emergency line at 250-561-3300 and an officer will be assigned to investigate."
Anyone with information about these offences or the persons responsible can contact the local detachment or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS(8477).

Neighbors keeping a watch works. Last weekend a person was spotted stealing from homes and was reported in the Otway area. I observed a person in the Tabor and 5th area. doing similar activities wearing a stuffed backpack on a Saturday afternoon(suspicious). I reported the suspicious person to the police phone number . I also told my neighbor about it too. Within 30 minutes the suspicious person had been caught by police in our neighborhood. All it takes is being observant and making a phone call. It worked. We need to be vigilant and watch our surroundings. I was out working in my backyard when this happened. I did it, so can you. More eyes really helps.
Time for some covert citizen patrols perhaps.
