Two PG Businesses Honoured For Energy Efficiency
Prince George, BC – Canfor Pulp Limited Partnership and Sinclar Group Forest Products have won Power Smart Excellence Awards for their commitment to energy conservation and efficiency.
The Prince George-based companies were two of 27 companies across the province recognized in 11 categories as part of BC Hydro’s 2012 awards.
Canfor Pulp received a Power Smart ‘Leader Award’ – Hydro’s highest level of customer recognition – for incorporating energy management into every aspect of its business. According to the utility, CPLP has conserved 14 gigawatt hours over two years, which is enough energy to power 1200 homes for more than a year.
Sinclar Group Forest Products received a Leadership Excellence Award for its continued conservation efforts. The Nechako sawmill in Vanderhoof is the first in the country to use an ‘organic ranking cycle’ generator, which captures waste heat and has resulted in almost 14 gigawatt hours of load displacement.
According to the utility, the company has shown consistent leadership in energy management and has achieved a 17-percent savings in electricity in the last two years.

Amazing the the Sinclair system at L and M Nechako in Vanderhoof has already displaced 14 gigawatt hours of load considering the plant is still under construction and scheduled start up is some time in December 2012.
Just think how much power will be displaced once the plant actually comes on line.
