Monday, October 29, 2012 @ 3:55 AM
Prince George, B.C.- The annual general meeting of Northern B.C. Tourism  started yesterday with the arrival of delegates, but the workshops and networking get underway today.

Tourism contributes $1.1 billion dollars each year to the Northern B.C. economy . “This conference brings together the partners who support our sector in Northern BC.” says Northern BC Tourism Association CEO Anthony Everett . “This is our yearly opportunity to demonstrate our expertise at destination management and marketing, and bring key people together to further develop skills and marketing ideas.”

Through today and tomorrow at the Prince George Civic Centre, delegates will look at the impact of web based and social media on tourism, best methods for marketing, examine the potential and benefits of sport tourism  and celebrate the best with awards for tourism Educator, Innovator and Protector of the year.

There will be a couple of special presentations as Jowi Taylor, owner of Voyageur (a guitar crafted from elements of historical and geographic significance to Canadians)  explains how his guitar tells a new story of Canadian history, and the 2015 Canada Winter Games Society will be on hand for a special announcement.
