Sunday, October 28, 2012 @ 4:43 AM
Prince George, B.C. – Northern Health is all set to begin its influenza vaccination program for this winter.  The  suspension of the use of Novartis flu vaccine will have no impact on the plans to start immunizationclinics in  the Northern Health region. The Novartis vaccine represents 30% of B.C.’s  fluc vaccine supply, the  balance of the supply is  not  part of the suspension.

Flu clinics will open in various locations around the city, including some seniors centres, on Monday. As well, vaccinations will be available at community centres, Pine Centre Mall and at the NH drop-in clinic on Edmonton Street from 9am to 3:30pm on Fridays, starting November 2nd. The Northern Health website has a complete list of times and locations for the clinics,  some physicians and pharmacies also provide free vaccine for those eligible.  You can click here for  a full  list of Prince George clinics.
Clinic details in other northern communities can be accessed here.

Influenza vaccine is available free of charge for those considered at high risk. They include children from 6 months to 4 years, anyone from 4 to 64 with a chronic illness, and anyone over the age of 65.
