Police Car, Truck Damaged in Marleau Road Mishap
Sunday, October 28, 2012 @ 1:28 PM
Prince George, B.C. – Damage totals approximately 9-thousand-dollars following a two-vehicle collision on Marleau Road.
RCMP Staff-Sergeant Bill Hudyma says at about 9:40 this morning a police cruiser, with lights on, attempted to pull over a pick-up truck for a traffic stop at the intersection of Marleau and the frontage road. The pick-up could not stop, went through the intersection and slid into the ditch. The police cruiser also could not stop and ran into the side of the pick-up.
The passenger in the pick-up was treated for an injured knee and released from hospital. There were no injuries to the officer or the driver of the pick-up.
Staff-sgt. Hudyma says the roads “were pure ice at the time.” He estimates $5000 damage to the truck, 4-grand to the cruiser.

We can all rest safely now the grandmer pholice aRe doin Dhere jobby.
I saw this crash. The truck had a good amount of damage. Marleau road is a ill maintained slick strip of city road. I flipped my own vehicle on that stretch a couple winters ago. (I wasn’t speeding, no one hurt, no tickets issued) Hopefully the city will think about this crash and maintain it just a little bit better. Glad no body was hurt.
So did the police officer take his foot off the brake so he could steer or just keep it on hard? Just wondering. ABS for steering control only works sometimes.
Also, even though it is not recommended, if you are going down a slippery slope, either forward or reverse, if you put your transmission in neutral, you have much better braking control. Equal braking on all four instead of the drive wheels pulling at the same time.
This is a favorite area for cops issuing tickets, easy pickings.

Ye ol double post. I wonder if the cop will get charged for rear ending. A couple of years ago near mud river a car went off the highway and a few more went off at the same spot and hit the cars already there. Everyone was at fault for rearending except the first car.
Not rear ended. The police truck kinda caved in the drivers door on the pickup. Not being a registered accident investigator it seems to me the police vehicle went through the stop side and broadsided said pick up truck. Just so ya know, I crawled by at about 5 miles per hour perusing the crash site. No one behind me. I din’t wanna get a ticket for speeding. On a lighter note and angle of this incident, can anyone tell me how well the potential hotel construction exercise is coming along at this intersection? Or is city hall wearing them down with BS and hoping they will get discouraged with their plans and just go away? That is how I envisage city hall.
Should read “stop sign”. Faulty keyboard.
look at all the cop haters.
Only the ones with single digit IQs and access to tasers.
Actually Boon , it is Marleau and not Marlow .
All that’s left to say is OOPS!
I seen 1 guy get charged for driving to fast for road conditions.
Wonder if the cop gets that.
Saw the accident. Way more damage than $9000. Not surprised if ICBC writes the truck off.
Will be interesting who is found at fault. The guy with the traffic infraction or the cop who couldn’t stop
So it turns out this was a stolen truck. All the idiots that immediately jump to criticizing the police should remember that the next time you need their help.
RUEZ. So the fact that it was a stolen truck gives the officer the right to drive without regard to road conditions an public safety? Or did the officer deliberatly run into it? Could be worse i guess they could’ve been trigger happy an shot them!
Ruez is right on. So much cop hate, even when they get a stolen truck and apprehend the suspect people still bitch, whine and complain.
Bitch whine and complain when we get the crime capital title, bitch whine and complain when the cops are doing their jobs.
What a fine group we have here.
