MVA Claims One Life On Hwy 97 South Of PG
Prince George, BC – One person is dead following a two-vehicle collision on Highway 97, south of Prince George, near the intersection with Buckhorn Road.
Prince Geoge RCMP say the highway is closed between Buckhorn Road and the Old Cariboo Highway, as officers from the RCMP’s General Duty and Traffic Services Section remain on the scene.
Media Relations Officer, Corporal Craig Douglass, confirms one person has been killed, while others have been taken to the University Hospital of Northern BC. Police are asking motorists to use an alternate route through the BCR Industrial site.
Corporal Douglass says the crash occurred just before 10pm on Sunday evening. The BC Coroners Service has been called into the investigation.
It was snowing at the time of the crash. The Prince George region is under a heavy snowfall warning, with 10-centimetres expected to fall overnight and another 5-centimetres forecast to fall throughout the day.
