Prince George, BC – The decorative lifespan of the pumpkin is has entered the ‘end of life’ stage…
At least one local grocery store is giving away pumpkins today. Superstore is encouraging customers to take home a pumpkin for free in the hopes its pumpkin patch will be picked clean by tonight.
While a hearty vegetable in their own right, many have not fared so well in the cold weather and may find their way into a puree as a result.
It is currently -10 degrees in Prince George and snowing. Environment Canada is calling for between 2- and 4cm today, and a similar amount will fall through the night.

Pick up the free pumpkins, roast the seeds and cook the flesh. The cooked pumpkin is good for substituting for fats in baking.
