Friday, November 2, 2012 @ 3:51 AM

Prince George, BC – The 2015 Canada Winter Games Host Society has issued a call for volunteers in six key areas – another momentous step in the checklist of planning the Games for the region.

The positions include:  Sports Committee Chair, Venue Committee Chair, Venue Team Leaders, Sport Leaders, Volunteer Committee Chair, and Chief Medical Officer/Medical Services Committee Chair.

In total, Communications Director, Mike Davis, says about 40 people are being sought in this initial recruitment campaign.

While full volunteer descriptions are available at www.canadagames2015.ca, among the required skills are:  a willingness to volunteer variable hours, including evenings and weekends; previous Games or related experience is considered an asset; and fluency in French is considered a major asset.

The 2015 Games will be the largest multi-sport and cultural event ever held in Prince George and Northern BC.

I’ll volunteer to do Mike Davis’s job at half the cost.

i already “volunteered” tax dollars for this waste of time and money…i really hope they do not get the volunteers that they need, that’d be funny.

I moved out a PG so I would not be forced to pay tax to support this garbage. I would be happy to volunteer to organize a few thousand people to volunteer to disrupt this waste of OUR money. People should do all they can to disrupt as much of this nonsense as possible. Stand in the street and shout at them. I have never found anyone in PG who I talked to that likes paying tax to be forced to put up with this. Let’s hope NOBODY will help these parasites that are extorting money from YOU to pay for this garbage.
I hope this show FAILS and nobody show up and support or help with this in any manner.

Anyone want to put a tooownie on the snow clearing budget going up in those years and dropping in the following years???

The games are happening whether you like it or not. You want this initiative to fail to just prove a point? Ha ha ha ha ha. What a bunch of selfish people you are. The best outcome would be success, to avoid sinking more money into this operation that is necessary. If they don’t find the volunteers they need, they’ll end up having to pay someone. If a bunch of angry people come out to sabotage the event, it will cost a lot of money to fix. Since there is no going back, the best outcome is for a successful event to help fully realize the few benefits we might experience. Trying to exacerbate the costs makes you just as wasteful as the politicians you purport to be better than

Maybe Pat or Shirley can find some honorarium money to pay the ‘volunteers’ ?? Wouldn’t that help with PGs unemployment rates?
