BC Hydro Long Term Plan Extended

Victoria, B.C.- B.C. Hydro has been given an extension for its Integrated Resource Plan.
The plan, which outlines how BC Hydro will meet electricity demand over the next 20 years, was to have been submitted December 3rd, but that has been extended until August 3rd of 2013.
The reason behind the extension is the onset of liquefied natural gas projects. The proponents are still negotiating electricity supply agreements with B.C. Hydro and the extra time will allow them to finalize those deals.
The Province says the agreements will provide “greater certainty for future volume and timing of LNG electricity requirements. This will help to ensure that the IRP is a realistic plan for B.C.’s future power needs, including LNG.”

Why don’t they use the gas to produce the electricity to liquefy the gas!
NoWay. I think thats the plan in Kitimat. Or they may use the surplus of electricity from the New Alcan plant once its completed.
Fact of the matter is they should use natural gas to meet all thier electricity needs and dump the Site C project.
I wouldnt hold my breath for the completion of these natural gas export projects. I would wait until after the election. There are many places around the world who are far ahead of us, when it comes to exporting natural gas. Plus the Russians, and Chinese are finding more gas due to fracking so we may be getting into the game too late.
