Why not? Big Bird lives of the taxpayer and doesn’t have to earn his own keep.
There are way too many people who are of the opinion that the government is there to take care of them. That is the economic ruination of a country.

This election was further proof America (and Canada) need to have 100% verifiable elections.
The Election was a complete fraud. At one point over 100 million votes were cast and the difference between Romney and Obama was less than 300 votes. All the big swing states were essentially 50/50… Florida, Ohio, and Virginia all were very close elections and all it would have taken was a couple of badly programmed vote counting machines and no one would be the wiser.
When the fate of the leadership of the free world hangs in the balance of less then a percent of votes, then there should be no doubt paper ballots that are verifiable is the only way to go.

Eagleone – nothing beats the old paper ballot with an ‘X’ beside the candidate of choice.
There is simply no verifiable way to do a recount with electronic voting machines.
On the other hand, the choice between Obama and Romney was like two sides of the same coin. I think the only real alternative was Dr. Ron Paul, the only candidate that polls earlier in the year showed beating Obama.
I wish we had a ‘Ron Paul’ in Canadian politics.
