Hmm. Sounds like a HST lover to me. Of course it’s a liberal too. So just be sure at election time you remember this example being put forth by liberals. This one here, a person could reasonably think she was part of the HST being dished out to you, that you still have the privelidge of paying by the way. Just make sure you remembeer the name come election day. Vote for anything but a liberal.
Soon the HST will be extinguished. Along with ALL liberals in BC. Oh Yay Oh Yay.
Mattyc,
If you think for one second that the HST will actually go away, you have been living under a rock with rose coloured glasses far too long.
Currently it is called HST. Previously it was GST, before that it was called a federal retail sales tax.
All the politicos have made efforts to make it more palatable by changing the name, and maybe including or excluding certain product classes based on who cried foul loudest. Just like today’s objections to the HST and how it now covers products previously excluding under this tax by another name. That is why there is discussion on a another name change. Nothing other than the name will change. We the people will still have to tithe to the public coffers for them to say where it will be used.
Now if you want something taxation wise to moan about, how about having to pay any sales tax on a used vehicle upon registration. How does that work where the government can repeatedly impose a tax on a product after it is no longer retailed. Can you imagine having to pay tax on that second hand tv or second hand furniture, every time it changes hands. Yet, this is what happens when you purchase (or otherwise acquire) any vehicle.
Can we have a larger picture please.
The next election will not be about GST,PST or HST. It will be about vision and reality. It will be about what can be done and what can`t be done. The BC boat will steer in the same direction.
If the NDP get in then the boat will slow down for one term before the majority of tax payers wake up and smell the roses, again.
And my name is Ron J Davis
