Prince George, B.C.- M.A.D.D.’s Project Red Ribbon turns 25 this year, and the MADD Prince George chapter is sending out the message to plan ahead before you attend any holiday functions.
It is a simple campaign. You tie a red ribbon to the antenna of your vehicle, or your purse, or your car keys, to show that you are making a committment to drive sober during the busy holiday season.
“We can all work together and we can stop impaired driving and keep our roads and communities safe,” says MADD Prince George Media Director Shannon Rodrigues
The ribbon reminds people to plan ahead for a safe ride home if they’re going to be drinking. It also serves as a tribute to those who have been killed or injured in impairment-related crashes.
Every year, between 1,250 and 1,500 people are killed and more than 63,000 are injured as a result of impaired driving.
MADD Canada’s red ribbons are available at various locations in the community including the Spruce Kings Hockey game on Nov. 10th, 2012 Vs. the Victoria Grizzlies and BC Liquor stores starting December 1st.
