That Aint No Gun Lady Thats An Air Compressor

Friday, November 9, 2012 @ 11:19 AM
Prince George- A woman who thought that a tow truck operator was walking around with a loaded 9mm hand gun after he had arrived at her home in Miworth to fix a flat tire, called 911 yesterday afternoon.
Police say they  received the call about the gun, and then the caller hanged  up. 911 Dispatchers called the woman back while police were on their way. The dispatchers were being told the guy had a 9mm hand gun.
When police arrived on the scene they surprised the man who was busy trying to fix the flat tire. That loaded gun turned out to be an air compressor handle that the driver was about to use to fill the tire with air.
Police are saying today that callers should remain on the line when they call so that more information can be obtained in matters such as this.

Seriously? Paranoia or what.

lol. Specifically a 9mm.

Paranoia is so rampant nowadays, unfortunately so is stupidity.

common sense is not so common

How do you know so little about guns as to think an air compressor was one, and yet could specifically say 9mm? LOL. Watch TV much?

LMAO! That’s pretty funny.

That’s a story Fox News would love!

Jay Leno ……. There are many hand tools that may appear like guns …. maybe even ray guns .. LOL … to people who were not brought up with guns.

Hey, maybe NRA could use that as a promotion to get more people to buy guns so that the know how to recgonize a gun from a battery operated drill.

The same as the people that see a big 4 wheel drive pickup and think it is speeding, when it is not. It appears to be going faster than a small vehicle. Happens all the time. A lot of people want to make a call before engaging logical thinking!

The fellow was carrying an air compressor handle? Was the air compressor attached to it?

the longest clip ever conceived

Yep, some new-fangled unit called a “cordless air compressor gun”. Saw it on the Space Channel.

There should be an idiot fine for dialing 911 for no good reason. Clearly she called the tow company, the truck arrived, the driver was doing his job. Maybe she needs to ajust her caffeen intake. Wow put your glasses on before acting, and quit watching God Father dvd’s the night before…lol

THIS is what we get when we turn everybody in the country into a bunch of “reporters on neighbours”.

That is precisely how communist countries keep their citizens in check – through fear of being reported.

Calling 911 when in trouble? What a joke.

A gun in the hand is worth more than a cop on the phone any day.

awwww they got pulled away from Timmy’s… Crazy lady..interupting a well deserved break.. I totally agree with Professional and all the others… Let’s all hope she reads 250 too…

Heyyy with all the NEW parties starting up, what say 250 get together and form one too.. Friday’s not a bad day to start a party…

jetstream: “THIS is what we get when we turn everybody in the country into a bunch of “reporters on neighbours”.

Uh, no it’s not, but thanks for coming out.

“Calling 911 when in trouble? What a joke. A gun in the hand is worth more than a cop on the phone any day”

Really? If this lady had a gun in her hand we may have a dead tow truck driver . . .

I can appreciated the humour with this story, but really, I think the lady deserves a break. Maybe she was mugged last week and is still having issues with that. Maybe she has a wing nut ex who has been stalking her and she’s on edge because of that. Or maybe (and most likely) she honestly believed something was amiss, she got freaked out and did exactly what we tell people to do in that situation.

Not the popular opinion obviously, but that’s okay ;)

nmg:
Amazingly I agree with you 100%
Better to be right (correct) than popular.

The head line should read: “is that a 9mm in your pocket or are you just happy to see me”

Actually I agree with NMG too – The humour I find in this is calling out the actual size of the gun.

Wonder if her hair dryer looks like a gun?

Poor tow truck driver. Traumatized for life! LOL.

All I can say is, “hanged up”. Who proof reads for this site? Hung up, people, hung up.

He’s lucky he wasn’t shot by the good guys.

They should publish her name so she could be publicly ridiculed for being an idiot.

I agree with NMG. We don’t know why this lady was so scared. Maybe she has PTSD, something terrible may have happened to her. Why are some commenters so judgmental and nasty? Sad

It`s a good thing he wasn`t packing a grease gun or there would have been big problems.

JohnnyBelt:
Sorry, but if I see my neighbour doing something, phoning the cops is waaaay down on my list.

My experience with them ranges from their incompetence to their arrogance.

I know most people want the state to do everything for them from teach (babysit) their kids to provide everything from protection to food to jobs to social services and so on.

I prefer to love my liberty too much to allow the state any interference in my life that I can help.

Remember, (based on the details of the reported story) this tow truck driver was CALLED to the lady’s home. This wasn’t some random, unexpected stranger prowling around the back door. He was doing precisely what SHE had requested.

This is paranoid response that is the result of too much TV and conditioning by a nanny state.

Has anyone asked her why she thought a tow truck driver who she called out to her home was carrying a gun? That may clear up all these assumptions people pretend are facts. It’s the “nanny state”, she is an “idiot”. Wow.

jetstream, I realize you’re trying to fit your views of ‘the nanny state’ into this story, and how you like to take care of yourself (whatever that means), but it simply doesn’t apply here.

Like others have noted, we don’t really know all the details or background. None of us were there. This lady probably doesn’t carry a gun on her belt like you claim to. People react differently in different situations.

Also, people who talk a big game rarely have the goods to back it up. Hint hint.

I think if you call the cops on 911 in what turns out to be a crank call, and you hung up on them before they could get all the information… then there should be a special kind of fine to pay for the troubles.
