Ft. St. John, B.C.- Health care providers in the Peace region now have a new tool to assist in their training.
New technology, which features an interactive mannequin “patient” has been added to the new hospital in Ft. St. John. This is the fourth Clinical Simulation Centre in Northern B.C., with the others being in Prince George, Terrace and Quesnel.
The mannequins are ideal tools for practicing everything from routine procedures, to emergency care and defibrillation or resuscitation. With spontaneous breathing, airway control, voice, sounds and more, the mannequins respond to clinical intervention, instructor control, and pre-programmed scenarios. They provide an excellent opportunity for health care workers to hone their skills in a variety of treatment scenarios.
This state-of-the-art learning environment is offered thanks to a partnership between Northern Health, the University of British Columbia’s Northern Medical Program and the School of Nursing at the University of Northern BC.
