Half way through November, and winding down another week. This is your opportunity to speak up on the issues that matter to you.
It is time for the FRIDAY FREE FOR ALL.
You pick the topic, but obey the three simple rules:
Keepit clean
Keep it legal
No Bullying of other posters!

Good Morning everyone. Cant think of anything to complain about this morning. I’m sure something will pop up later.
I sent an e-mail to the space station, I still havn’t got a response. They must be above us!
I sent a couple of emails to Santa Clause, no reply, I guess we should fire him as well.
Was it a polite email?
I like the idea of these opinion polls. To bad that you can vote as many times as you like though. Doesn’t give a very accurate count.

I don’t think it records your second, third, fourth, etc. vote. As an experiment I just voted 4 times and the percentages did not change.
I seen a F-150 up north last week that had a highway speed head on with the 9′ wide goose neck of a lowbed trailer. Amazing how tough the roll cage is in those new F-150’s. Front driver side of the truck was completely gone up to the roll cage and then it looks to have just bounced off the lowbed trailer… occupants of the pickup truck looked like they walked away uninjured.

Wait until you have a medical problem Albus Antiquus Vir and middle finger and the only person who can give you answers is the minister of health and they ignore you you won’t think it so funny
————————–
One would think that your Doctor would be better qualified to answer? The minister is just another bureaucrat.
To Acrider54: What planet do you live on that you cannot think of anything to complain about?
Harper has signed us onto a 31-year sacrifice of sovereignty to a Communist dictatorship.
Harper is going to ram a pipeline down out throats.
City Council is selling off our assets.
Infrastructure is falling apart beneath our feet (and tires) and it is being ignored.
Try any of the above to “complain” about.
Nothing to complain about acrider54? Then you must not live in PG.
Better get out shopping! 5 weeks until Christmas break.
Axeman: Yes i had to see how the council poll changed in there favour over night, so I voted a dozen times and had it change .2 points.
Why complain , nobody listens anyway lol. have a great weekend everyone.
Gofaster,
we have these new things, they are called, wait for it, PHONES.
If I have a medical problem the last thing I would do is fire off an email to the health minister. Call my doctor, go to emergency, call an ambulance.
Doesnt sound like you had a “medical problem”, sounds more like you had a complaint.
One thing to be thankful of is that our leaders are not elected in for ten year terms. I was watching the introduction of a leader and his six councils that will be China’s lead for the next ten years. Socialist with Chinese values. Hmmmm.
whats with all the liquor establishments popping up ? Bars have been shut down and i seem to see more and more outlets to buy beer and in my opinion it is making PG look more and more like a beer can capital.
Have a great weekend everyone!
“Wait until you have a medical problem Albus Antiquus Vir and middle finger and the only person who can give you answers is the minister of health”
Boy, that would be SOME medical problem!!!!
Bars are closing because we’re not allowed to go out for a drink anymore.
I am not sure how many were aware that one of the reasons given to not renovate and add onto the current RCMP station was that the holding cells were inconveniently located on the second floor.
So, walk by the building on the 5th Avenue side some time and notice the row of small windows on the second floor.
Seems the RCMP made the same decision as to where the holding cells are best located.
I wonder what changed in the past 5+ years in the thinking of the RCMP. I sure hope it is not going to end up in some new guy coming in and requiring the cells to be moved to the ground floor. ;-)
E-mail is an ineffectual and lazy way to communicate, especially with something like a government ministry. They probably get thousands of e-mails every day.
Most people who watch “Friends”, watch it by themselves.
Posted by: Gofaster on November 16 2012 7:48 AM
axman, the ministy is the one who needs to resolve this the doctor is caught in a government catch 21.
———————-
Try contacting the media? Depending on what your issue is, going public might help expedite the process?
I know what a catch22 is, but what is a catch 21? Is that like a catch22, but not quite as bad?
Soon the HST will be EXTINGUISHED.
As well as the full liberal contingent now ripping you off daily with this illegal tax. They will be completely WIPED OUT next May. That will be so wonderful to see. Then maybe, if we the people are lucky, we will get an inquiry into BC Rail and get to find out how snooki sold our asset to her good friends. Choo Choo.
I am hoping we can get more taxes and user fees from our city council, they seem to be going for the olympic gold medal in taxing us to death. One chimp and a bunch of kittens could do better at running the city than our current “council”
as for emails to our political reps.. i have sent a few…and always get useless form letters in return.
My latest was to the health minister about old age homes. My parents are close to needing moved to a home and since both my mother and father had good jobs, paid thier taxes and had their retirement set financially the government wants 80% of their income once they are placed. but someone who has been on welfare or not so gainfully employed get to go in for free. of course the response said nothing but fluff.

I don’t see the issue here. If your parents can afford it then by all means they should pay it. Nothing’s free.
Actions speak louder than words.
Its amazing to watch the people in this town, prattle away about issues of the day, but sit on their butts and do nothing.
The City is for all intents and purposes, insolvent. We are facing huge tax increases, service fee increases, and the sell off of some assets, that over the past 20 years cost us millions of dollars in tax revenues.
While the City is nailing us on the increased taxes, they are funnelling all the money from the sale of City land into the Capital Projects Fund. To continue to piss money away on Capital Projects.
Meanwhile the prattlers, continue to (like Rip Van Winkle) sleep through the whole process.
If anyone thinks that the River Road Dike issue is dead, or that the plan to build the Performing Art Centre has been shelved, they are living in Cyberspace like Max Headroom.
When people wake up they will be in for a shock. Especially if interest rates go up.
Some people on this site have obviously forgotten what things were like in the early eighties. Interest rates at 18%, thousands of foreclosures, people undable to meet thier financial obligations, etc; etc;.
Wake up and smell the flowers.
Gofaster, I really like the idea suggested above at notifying the media about your medical issue and the Minister’s lack of response to you about it. If the media here won’t do anything about it, then I would try one of the large Vancouver stations. Good luck, I hope you get some resolution.
I can’t believe how negative some of the posters on this site are. The person “Gofaster” is talking about a medical problem they have and all some of you can post is sarcastic, mean comments. Think about it before you post. Put yourself in the other person’s shoes and try to think about how you would feel if people responded to you that way. Do unto others ….
This doesn’t solve the problem. But when the city is insolvent due to poor management, don’t you think they should figure out a way to manage better instead of continuing down the same road expecting a different result?
BB: “I can’t believe how negative some of the posters on this site are. The person “Gofaster” is talking about a medical problem they have and all some of you can post is sarcastic, mean comments.”
I’m sorry, but if you are going to publicly complain about a lack of response to an e-mail sent to a bureaucrat at a government ministry, you have to take the good comments with the bad.
absolutely agree with sardonic
JohnnyBelt, so you’re suggesting that when someone doesn’t really know YOUR way of addressing problems, we can all make fun of them?
It’s a sad world when telephone messages, emails and/or letters don’t get answered. Just because one can get away with something, doesn’t mean they should.
When I was at the Studio Fair, the PAC group was there trying to convince people to support them. When I expressed doubt about the advisability of spending tax dollars on such alarger scale project right now, he was positively rude. I actually think a PAC is a good idea…one day far in the future when we have money for it. Lots of other things are good ideas too…when we have money for them. RIght now, I want sidewalks that I can walk safely on without falling into massive craters that make the street potholes look small, snow that is cleared away from bus stops so I can get to the bus without having to climb up mountains of snow, water and sewer lines that don’t break, and etc. Our aging infrastructure and atrocious accessibility are far more important right now than a PAC. Let’s focus on the essentials.
P Val: if your parent’s income is really high, then you might want to look into private care facilities. They may actually work out to be cheaper in the long run. Just a thought.
I agree that it must be frustrating to see people who are savers have to spend so much on their care as seniors, but be glad that they have enough to take care of all of their needs. People who have no income and no pensions struggle in many other ways.

If you are sending an e-mail to a Minister in any Ministry, so long as it doesn’t contain material you consider priveledged or confidentia, CC a copy to your MLA and ensure you have recieve notification on the e-mail and read receipt active.
Some Ministers will avoid you, but as soon as it’s CC’ed to an MLA they tend to stop with the stupidity of avoiding your e-mail. Trust me this works very well. Ministers don’t like others looking over there cyberspace shoulders. Good Luck
The problems with the local bars is simple they are all owned by a select few people. Most of them end up being hangouts for the little wanna be gangstas.
Little fore sight on the part of the owners to draw in the more legitimate older crowd that want to listen to good music, laugh and have a few with friends and hevens forbid maybe even dance a bit.
No it’s all about having a place where little creatons can hang out turn deals and pretend they are big league. Not everyone wants to be in a sports bar, not that that’s a crime in it’s self but there’s already too many “sports bars” in Prince.
All the “other clubs” are just meat markets to coin an old phrase from back in the day. We need an establishment for us “older but far from dead” set.
Just back from walking my dog at the river trails, people, CLEAN UP YOUR DOG POOP!!!!!!!!!!!!! There are bags at all the parking areas and enough garbage containers around to make it very easy. Really, it’s disgusting to see dog poop in the middle of the pathway, how lazy and irresponsible are people?????
Heh… Core Review… Hah hah
City needs money, it’s in the hole…. Hah hah
Bylaw Enforcement isn’t bringing in the cash…. Gee Could it be because bylaws doesn’t do anything for fear of annoying folks?
Here’s a thought, how about bylaws actually fining folks for bylaw violations. They can hang out at the trails and enforce Poop patrol.
Maybe businesses that violate bylaws could actually be fined instead of given time to comply.
Maybe putting parking meters back in without the fancy BS high tech price tag and collecting revenue first before spending into deficit.
For those who whine about not going down town because of the meters, we solve that issue and install meters everywhere. That way we level the playing field everywhere. Users pay and those who cheat the system get the bonus of being ticketed and towed.
If you want to live in a city there are things you need to expect from a city. If you want to play “city” you need to learn how revenue is gained by more subtil ways other than taxing the snot out of the residents.
Seriously where did city counseller and the mayor come from a village, if so, that village called, they want you to come home.
Heh Happy Friday Everyone!
BB: “JohnnyBelt, so you’re suggesting that when someone doesn’t really know YOUR way of addressing problems, we can all make fun of them? “
I think people need to take themselves a little less seriously and be a little less sensitive and realize that others might have differing views than their own.

It’s not only on the trails, but on City sidewalks. People in general don’t feel the need to clean up after thir pets.
It’s this simple: If you post your opinion or personal problems on an internet message board you’re gonna get responses you may not like. If you can’t take it, don’t post it.
Also MattyC is an idiot :-)
“The problems with the local bars is simple they are all owned by a select few people. Most of them end up being hangouts for the little wanna be gangstas”.
If your travelling north on Ospika past Shooters, when its dark out, read the sign. It says “Shooters TS Bar”,….maybe they are trying to attract a new crowd.
Love reading the Friday Free-for-all.
Any thread on this site seems more complete with a post from MattyC I am a little diappointed in this latest one, it says “liberal” instead of the usual “lieberal” that I have come to know and love.
Now we just need someone to chime in on the evils of chlorinating our water and the thread will officially be a success.

PVal, your concern for your inheritance is touching. Persons of various income levels, from gov. pensions, to those who are ‘set financially’ like your parents, pay 80% of their income for care in facilities such as the Gateway Care Home etc…
I’m supposing that’s far too socialist of a concept for you to wrap your head around. My only suggestion is, you keep emailing, calling, texting and tweeting the Min. of Health, with your concerns re: your future, all inclusive, Mexican resort vacations.
Has anyone been through the new Burger King Parking Lot.
The concrete curb work is the most horrible workmanship i have seen in a long time.
I refuse to go to the burger king now. they blocked the sidewalk all summer for their construction even though their building permit did not allow for that unless a safe pedestrain access was created. Numerous calls to the city yielded the above information but not resolution. I know several other visually impaired people who also had rpoblems tehre.
No one picked up on your ideas Pal. But when the empire crumbles it will be to late for good ideas.
There are some good buys an townhomes and Condo in the lower mainland and even in Vernon. Cant waite till spring.
Cheers

you report your under the table income on your tax returns yet? Im curious, as well as only working for under the table income as you have stated, do you also collect welfare? Get your GST/HST rebate cheques, family allowance, any and all handouts you can get your greedy little paws on?
Your worse than the party that you hate so much. Must be hard for you to look in a mirror knowing that your a hypocrite.
@Zack Tucker – it’s not chlorine in the water that’s a problem – that kills things that kill people. It’s the poison known as fluoride in that water that has dubious health benefits but a lot of down side.
Was at City hall and notice there are 2 new no parking signs up for the mayor. No parking 24 hours a day and will be towed. Does the green work 24/7 at city hall????? How much did this cost the person to make and install those signs? And was that really neccecary? I would say NOPE. What a waste of tax payer money, lots of parking at city hall for her, she parks beside a garbage can… GOOD place for her.

Hey Albus Antiquus Vir
F… Off
I agree with ValP. The system is designed to punish the people who managed their money well, or denied themselves the extras while they were working to put money aside for their retirement. The retirement income OAS etc. is income tested so the person who made good money and then pi**ed it all away on toys, trips, etc. and then retires without a “pot to **** in” will receive all the supplements, and handouts that the government provides while the rest of us continue to pay and pay and pay. I have decided to make sure that when I finally retire, I will have cashed in any RRSPs,emptied any savings accounts so as far as the government knows, I have nothing and will receive the same benefits as others. I have no problem with people who were not fortunate enough to have jobs where they could save or jobs that had pensions, but the rest of us should not have to pay for everything when our politicians can retire with a gold plated pension.
Can anyone explain to me how it is cheaper to completly demolish Kin 1, ad new dressing rooms to Kin 2 and build a new Kin 1 instead of just adding a new rink beside the Kin centers? The main guy who created this mess is gone. Who were the counsillors who changed there vote to make this happen?

Uh…..its cheaper because that way they don’t have to maintain and staff an additional building.
Before anyone uses an under the table contractor such as mattyc you had better look at the liabilities that you are exposing yourself to.If he injures himself while doing the work you could be held responsible and your house insurance may wash their hands of it leaving a potential huge bill.
It is fairly obvious that matty is a hammer or two short of a full tool belt so if he happens to screw up some how and your house burns down you might be SOL as the insurance company can say “not our problem, talk to your contractor”.
Also if there are problems a few months down the road your options will be quite limited as there is no paperwork or contract to allow for legal action. The tone of Mattyc’s posts are likely similar to what his response would be to a warranty request and I don’t think Mike Holmes works out west.
It is always better to spend a few extra bucks get the scope of the work in writing and ensure the person doing the work has WCB coverage and insurance to cover any of their screwups.
I was shopping downtown today ,It was a bad day for two of my favorite stores ,the cashier had to stop to help with a shoplifter ,he was dressed in a Red coat and had a bald head the other shoplifter was about six feet tall with a base ball cap blue coat with stripes on the sleeves and a track pant with white stripes on the legs . Then they went across the street and they had to deal with them. I was in a second hand store later when one came in wanting to sell some packaged tools but the dealer would only give him five dollars a pack at this point I left ,I was sick to my stomach. I feel so sorry for stores that have to deal with these problems. There has to be a way to HELP them .
I forgot to mention both the shoplifters had large pack sacks on their backs, but they stuff the stuff in their coats or pants so if they get caught the sack is empty or has the other stores stuff in it . So be alert store owners.
Here’s a crazy idea while the green machines are gone ;)P
Lets get ahold of the Lieutenant Governor in Council and/or the Governor in Council
dissolve this municipality and then transfer the assets and obligations and continuation of bylaws to a new municipality.
This way we could require that all bylaws and the OCP be amended or repealed.
See – simple – that way we can get a new council and mayor to boot. LOL
mattyc
Hit the nail on the head did I :-)
