Prince George, B.C. – The B.C. Coroner’s Service today is expected to identify the Prince George man killed in a highway accident south of Bear Lake last week.

Shortly after 5p.m. Thursday a commercial service truck travelling west on the 700 Road entered Highway 97 into the path of a transport truck. The transport, loaded with empty metal storage containers, T-boned the service truck. The driver of the service truck was pronounced dead at the scene while the tractor trailer driver was taken to University Hospital of Northern BC with non-life threatening injuries.

Initially police said road conditions and alcohol were not factors in the collision however the condition of the roads at the time has subsequently been looked at further. Highway 97 was closed for more than eight hours as police investigated the accident prior to the removal of the wreckage.

Spokeswoman Barbara McClintock with the B.C. Coroner’s Service says she expects to release the victim’s name today.
