Cougars Kick off Christmas Campaign Tonight

Prince George, B.C. – The Prince George Cougars get into the Christmas spirit this evening as they kick off their Christmas campaign.
 
The Cats will be  teaming up with local organizations to make it easy to support those who are less fortunate.
 
It all starts with a call for fans to bring hats, scarves and mitts to the CN Centre tonight as a donation   for the Canadian Mental Health Society. The items will be distributed to   Canadian Mental Health Society clients.
 
The campaign of giving continues through to and including December 16th. “We have such generous fans and I encourage them  to be a part of our Cougars Christmas Campaign to  help local families in need over the holiday season,” said Cougars Vice President Brandi Brodsky. “We are so fortunate in so many ways and I believe that it’s important we try to do what we can to brighten the holidays for others.”
 
Other Christmas Campaign dates are:
Saturday, December 1st vs. Victoria (Unwrapped toys for 3-5 year-olds):  Bring a new unwrapped toy for children between the ages of 3-5. The toys will be collected and distributed by members of the Child Development Centre.
 
Tuesday, December 4th vs. Moose Jaw (Unwrapped Gifts): Bring new unwrapped gifts for all ages which will be collected by the Salvation Army.
 
Tuesday, December 11th vs. Swift Current (Pet Supplies): Bring any cleaning or laundry supplies or any pet treats, toys or leashes which will be collected by members of the SPCA.  
 
Wednesday, December 12th (Skate With the Cougars): All fans are invited to skate with the Cougars from 6:15 – 7:15 P.M. Popcorn and hot chocolate will be provided. It’s a great opportunity for fans to interact with their favourite players on the ice.
 
Saturday, December 15th vs. Vancouver (Canned Food):  The Yellowhead Rotary Club of Prince George is gathering food for the Prince George Food Bank. Please bring non-perishable food items to support families in our community.
    
Sunday, December 16th vs. Vancouver (Teddy Bear Toque Toss): When the Cats’ score their first goal against the Vancouver Giants Cougars; fans can toss their stuffed animals and toques on the ice. The bears and toques will benefit the RCMP Victim Services Unit, the Salvation Army and other organizations in need over the holiday season.
 
All donations will be collected in Section X.
