Good morning/evening all

Does anyone know what IDL is building between Husky gas and Lomak?,out in the bcr site,,,looks like a big project

Ok…Turning left off of Hwy 16 onto Domano Blvd: To the next pinhead who sees a single car queue in the left left-turn lane, (opposed to the ten cars waiting in the right left-turn lane, anticipating going to Save-on or another such quick exit off Domano to the right), knowing that they will have to push their way back into the proper lane BEFORE the next set of lights, watch out for a silver Dodge 4×4 with a driver who has had enough.

Time for some bumper cars on Domano. Besides I would like a new paint job, and I am just not going to slow down, slam on my breaks and be courteous. Funny how it is usually a vehicle worth tenfold mine as well.

Maybe a few signs would help.

Over the left lane – reserved for those who will be turning left off Domano or going straight ahead after Trent.

Over the right lane – reserved for those turning rght off Domano or going straight ahead after Trent.

I mean, it is time people planned 10 steps ahead in their drive to their destination. And, if you change your mind when you realize you forgot to get gas …. well, that is too bad. Make a U-turn and start all over again …… ;-)

What I hate is the MERGE sign that sits WAYYYY up high when turning on Highwy 16 heading downtown. Maybe it was put up high so bigger vehicles can see it. I’m always having to honk my horn at people to move ahead because they don’t know it’s a Merge lane for the sign is tooo high to see..

“Fog Lights” Aren’t they just that? Why do some drivers use them all through the day? Why do they use them on a clear night on a street with street lights? Why do they follow vehicles with them on during a clear night? I have a set in my vehicle, rarely use them unless it’s real foggy or a rainy night they are basically useless on a clear night or day. IMHO

I was amazed yesterday at the amount of people that are to lazy to sweep the snow off their vehicle, looking out a little peep hole, blind or oblivious to whats going on around them. Who wipes you peoples butt for you in the morning ?

acrider54, if you are referring to the lower lights on the newer vehicles people use them for extra driving lights by putting higher watt bulbs in them and they come on only in low beam. some vehicles have a wiring update to incorperate all your lights when on highbeam also. I believe this is illegal but never really inforced. add the HID lights and no comonsense, it makes for a very interesting meet on the highway at night.
have a great day everyone

Willyj. I believe they are building a new Wajax shop.

I once witnessed an old guy turning left onto Domano from Highway 16. He turned so sharp he turned himself into the left side of the divider on Domano. Alas, no oncoming traffic close thereby giving him enough time to reach the nearest left turn exit which happened to be in front of the Scotia bank. Life would be sure boring if everyone was the same. Right?

Has anyone been through the new Burger King parking lot? The concrete islands look as though they are the product of an elementary school class project.

my complaint – parents teaching their children that it is okay to cross the four lanes of Ospika between intersections so that they can get to the school. 1st time a very little one was running across the blvd and stopped just before my car would have hit him, mother was just steps behind (yes, I was going very slow as I could see what was going on but the roads still was very slippery & I not sure I could have stopped)But to make it worse all the cars behind me stopped to let them cross teaching the boy that he could cross anywhere he wanted. The next time there were more parents and students and another adult waiting on the blvd for them.

Worse offenders driving around with fog lights…trucks with a goat on the front:(

The Beauty to park in a Garage or Carport you never have to clear the Snow off.
How about Vans with Racks, like for Ladders, I have been hit by an Ice Sheet coming off at Highway speed, scares the Hell out of you! I was driving in the opposing Lane on Mud River Hill! I wish I could have seen his Plates.

Anyone else concerned about this?

Watch the video on CBC’s website too. Interesting and scary that she may come back to Prince George.

How do I get a link to link right away on this site?

I am concerned about this and mad that the Citizen does not have a story on this.

bornandbred

type “” paste link-then type “” without quotation marks

url and brackets did not show up inside quotation marks…just look under the comment box for an example:)

does this mean she will back in our city? hope it isn’t in my neighbourhood. sounds like she is bound to be a repeat offender and she should be in a proper institute where there is help for her 24-7. possibly an other mistake by the goverments which will result in pain and suffering to everyone.
Just my thoughts

So when can we expect a little relief from the inflated diesel prices in this town?? Isn’t it about time they dumped the carbon tax so we could afford to take a road trip without having to run up our credit cards??

Something needs to be done with the merges off Southridge Ave onto HWY 16 going east. These people are trying to cross 4 lanes of heavy traffic trying to get onto Tyner Blvd.

They don’t care that one lane slows to a crawl as they wait for that moment to squeeze their way into the inside lane of HWY 16. Then off they go to the university or God knows where. All this in less than 100 yards of space. Someone is GOING TO GET KILLED.

It’s time for the RCMP to park their butts on the side of Tyner and fine them. A sign indicating no access to Tyner Blvd, something…You can’t fix stupid drivers but you CAN make them pay…

It would be nice to see a speed bump installed at the traffic circle on the pulp mill road. Lots of good drivers slow down and allow cross traffic to merge with them when they are coming off the bridge…but still far too many speeding up and stopping the flow of traffic…really are you in that much of a hurry?

Stillsmokin……It may be the sign is not low enough but my guess, too many people still don’t know the difference between merge and yield. See it all the time and for some reason, I’m always the person behind those dummies.

You dont really understand the rules of a traffic circle do ya Jim? Slowing down and letting traffic in out of turn backs it up more than people following the rules…

Happy Friday all

Interesting what Styxxx wrote about the left turn lane. I have observed that phenomenon many times and wondered WHY??…. I typically drive by and use the underpass to Walmart to get into the Southridge area but I chuckled when I read his comment.

Gus makes a very valid point in the next comment.

Many people do not plan ahead when they are driving and make last minute decisions that are often wild and erratic and could be dangerous for others.

Driving should not be a right but a privilege. It’s time that the average driver is more intelligent and considerate to those around them when making decisions on the road.

Hummer – this happens southbound off of 97 onto 5th. Someone will invariably go in the left turn lane and then try to dive right immediately to get thier double double at Timmies…

interceptor, perhaps I wasn’t clear…the traffic coming off the bridge is bumper to bumper to bumper…unless the bridge traffic slows enough to allow cross traffic to alternate the circle wouldn’t work.

For the most part it works fine until you get the drivers that will not slow, they speed up to prevent cross traffic from entering which causes a hazard because when your trying to enter the flow from the bridge you don’t know if they are going to be punching the gas or not.

I’m sure a radar gun or speed bump would work wonders.

gotcha Jim – I was thinking of the people who get in the circle and then all but stop to let someone in ahead of them… I know they are trying to be polite but sometimes polite doesnt work lol

People are always mentioning how corporations control government, well how about NGO’s threatening our sovereignty. Well here is an interesting read on how the US may be trying to shut Canada out of the US oil market with the coroperation of NGO’s

http://opinion.financialpost.com/2012/11/28/vivian-krause-u-s-greens-shut-down-canadian-oil/

If you’re turning right at a stop sign or traffic lights, remember to LOOK right before you hit the gas. While you are understandably looking left for oncoming traffic, you are also responsible for not hitting pedestrians who HAVE the right of way when crossing in front of you. Last night someone almost got hit; a child would have been hit but this adult knew enough to hesitate instead of assuming that the driver would be intelligent enough to look before turning.

Don’t hit pedestrians who have the right of way! (well, don’t hit any pedestrians, but please, learn the rules of the road and know when you the driver is required to stop for people).

The whole set-up of the traffic circle coming off the bridge from the overpass makes it so that traffic can’t do anything but back up when it is busy. If cars kept a huge distance between them and the person in front of them during rush hours, it would back traffic up even further onto Carney Street and 1st Avenue.

I think the traffic coming from the Pulpmill just has to be patient and wait their turn.

I’ll add my voice to the whole “Merge” sign thing.

It would be really nice for people to learn the difference between “Yield” and “Merge”. Traffic would move along quicker, smoother, and think of the stress that would be eliminated in the drivers who are behind the guy (or gal)/ gal) who is holding up a line-up behind as they are stopped.

I simply believe there are not nearly enough policemen on traffic duty, especially when traffic is heavy and there are trouble spots. All it takes is a heavier enforcement for awhile to educate some drivers as to what the rules of the road are, (even though they should have learned this when learning to drive) and occaisional enforcement thereafter.
Why do drivers in Vancouver stop for amber lights? Because of police enforcement. It works!

Why do Canadians put up with false advertising? Isn’t it fraudulent to lead people to believe something attractive about the product your selling when it isn’t true?

Tell me again how that Dodge pickup gets 36 MPG.

seamutt: Its what I have been saying for years. especially because of the one link in the comments link: http://www.petitionproject.org/index.php.

The whole ‘carbon tax’ thing has just been a big scam as another way for governments to tax us on simply a whim.

There is no scientific proof for this tax.

jus gotta know……whats bein built behind the new Burger King in the old parking lot.

It has nothing to do with being good for the environment [carbon tax], it’s all about setting up a system of carbon offset trading. Then a few years down the road we might read how that little appointed board of directors is making patronage loans to political buddies?? Going on trips to China etc etc etc

The merge lane from 97 onto 16 going to down is dangerous now that they changed the layout of the intersection. Coming N on Hwy 97 I have checked the traffic and there is no one so I go to merge and I almost was taken out by a speeding truck that was no where to be seen just moments before.

I learnt to drive on the LA freeways so I know the difference between merge and yield but to bad the other drivers do not allow people to merge, they will stay in the right hand lane when the left is open or they will even move into the right to cut you off, after all you might get somewhere a few seconds before them.

One of my favorite things to do when shopping downtown was to visit our two Antique stores on George St. it looks like they are both gone. There might be hope for The Something New ,Something Old Store I sure hope so.

With all the shenanigans going on at City Hall, IPG, Touris Bureau, Airport Authority, Community Energy System, Charles Jago Sports Centre, CN Centre, Pine Valley Golf Course, PG Golf and Curling Club, PG Tennis Court, Playhouse Theatre, Trips to China, Core Review, etc; etc; etc;

One could say the people of Prince George are being HORNSWOGGLED.

Seems the national sport of the City of Prince George is, **Take a dollar from a citizen** There does not seem to be any end to the constant gouging that goes on in this town.

The U.S. stock market has more than doubled from 2009 lows. Financial conditions seemingly couldn’t be looser. November saw a record $165bn of U.S. corporate debt issuance. This year will see near record corporate debt sales. Junk bond issuance will be a new all-time high. System Credit growth will be the strongest since 2008. Recently, consumer confidence has jumped to a four-year high. The nation’s housing markets are showing signs of life. GDP would be generally OK, except for the matter of the unprecedented fiscal and monetary excess necessary to generate such limited economic expansion.

You see Palopu … you forgot about the Winter Games ….. this is a conspiracy to overwhelm the people of PG with all this other stuff to make them forget about the Winter Games costs which have their own tax levy (that is where the winnings are coming from, not those who will attend the games) and the state of the roads ……

:-Þ

Oh, did anyone mention the excesses of the kitschi design for the performing …. I mean RCMP centre???? …

Boom and bust, Charles. It’s inevitable one will continually follow the other as long as the financial system is as it is. And if we haven’t already suffered enough to want it changed, well, it’s our God given right to leave it alone and suffer some more.

Hey Jim, u think diesel prices are bad now, just wait.. Working north of ft mc we’ve had diesel delivery rations. Some guys have 5-6 pieces sitting cuz no fuel. Refinery hiccups, white hot economy, & good early winter weather.

Oops put this in the wrong blog

Not defending the mills but it looks like the province, WorkSafe, are using the mills as scapegoats for their lack of due diligence.

Came in from Salmon Valley tonight, visibility great but every and I mean every pickup had their auxiliary lights on and they are bright. Between their piss poor driving habits and this light thing I am embarrassed to be driving a truck.

Drove in from McBride today and saw more moose inside the city limits this morning then on the 220 km drive from McBride to Prince George.
