JDC West Dives Into Fundraiser

Friday, November 30, 2012 @ 11:03 AM

Prince George, B.C.- The UNBC JDC West team was taking one for the team, and charity this morning.

The team members were into the big chill as they jumped into a pool of icy water as a fundraiser for the Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation.

Taking part in fundraising events is part of the JDC team’s year long involvement in the JDC West competition.   The actual competition is set for UBC January 18-20th.

The Chillin’ for Charity event   has been an annual event since 2006.   JDC West individual teams take turns taking the plunge into a pool filled with icy water.   Spectators can help keep that pool at a maximum cold temperature by buying bags of ice ( $5 each).

Cheers to a great cause and a group of brave kind soles.

soles??? Maybe souls?

I dunno. This doing dumb things to raise money for some weird and wonderful charity just doesn’t sit well with me. I am almost positive that the money will end up in the wrong pockets. I donate only to the Salvation Army and some street people. It nauseates me to see these “run for anything” gatherings all summer long. It’s just me folks — don’t get upset about it—just an opinion.

You mean like you wouldn’t want to see any money from the Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation going to Commonwealth Health ?

I guess you don’t support the Festival of Trees either because all the money raised there goes to the same “weird and wonderful charity” Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation.

People are always complaining about todays youth but here they raise money for a good cause and people still complain….imo thats nauseating!

“I donate only to the Salvation Army and some street people.”

I give to the Sally Ann, but I don’t give to street people. I don’t feel like supporting a booze or drug habit.
