RCMP Bust Grow Op West Of Quesnel
Prince George, BC – A 39-year-old man is facing several drug-related charges in connection with a grow op discovered in a residence along the Nazko Highway, west of Quesnel.
Members of the RCMP’s North District Integrated Marihuana Enforcement Task Force, North District Drug Section, and Quesnel RCMP executed a search warrant on the home in the 5200-block of the highway and discovered 350 pot plants growing inside the residence, along with 1.5-pounds of dried marihuana and growing equipment. Police say the man believed responsible was arrested without incident and is facing charges of Production of a Controlled Substance and Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking.
He will make his first court appearance in Quesnel in March.

good work guys. just wondering why they picked this particular residence. if it was tip then we need more for sure.
legalize it and stop waisting money on small time pot growers and catch some crack producers or heroin sellers.
they hand out crack pipes and clean needles but hit pot heads hard. this guy will now spend more time in prison than many convicted pedophiles.
right on boudicca. Pretty smart justice system making lawyers, judges and cops wealthy. They won’t walk n to a safe injection site and arrest anyuone for illegal possesion of heroin. What a blatant insult to regular canadians. Cops can,t do their job I guess — must be someone at the top making a lot of money on crack and heroin. Canada has nothing to bragg about. We should be ashamed of the RCMP for looking the other way when big money is concerned. We’re no better than Merxico!!
350 plants is not what I’d call a small time grower. I wonder what gang they were affiliated with?
Wow, you two geniuses up top seem to think that a pot bust prevents the police from going after other drug pushers? Grab a brain.
Given marijuana is a drug that causes (documented here http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-11660210 less harm than alcohol, and is being (rightfully) decriminalized not only south of us, but throughout Europe the geniouses no doubt believe it a waste of resources. I also think what the geniouses up top think is that the war on drugs has failed. Drugs, both hard and soft, have never been cheaper or easier to find (check out supply and demand here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Supply_and_demand.
You know what really terrorizes the renegades? The legalization and taxation of soft drugs. Not many shoot H, not many snort coke, few do meth. Pot smokers, we’re everywhere. We probably provide 50% of their profits, and 90% of their trade goods (more pot than cash) to bring the harder drugs north.
So, to sum up for those that have a problem with complicated ;) arguments.
1) Drug war failed, therefore waste of resources.
2) Pot not that harmful.
3) Profits of pot used to finance worse harms.
4) Best way to harm drug ‘pushers’ is to legalize/decriminalize pot.
So why do you need pot? I get up off my butt and go for a hike. That gives me all the stimulation I need, and healthy to boot. I don’t think it is very smart to ingestion something with dangerous known and unknown chemicals.
I “get high” on Jesus.
Way to go RCMP! To the naysayers, the RCMP can only do what their bosses tell them to do, so don’t blame it on them. They are doing a very good, hard and often dangerous job for all of us.
oh seamutt… personaly i have been diagnosed with cronic pain and i use pot to deal with it, because i refuse to ingest pills with known and unknown chemicals!!! Im glad you can go for a hike good for you, I get stimulation from reading a good book. to each his own!
apoliticalgeek, glad we don’t have to worry about what you ‘think’. Here is what I ‘think’:
1)Even if MJ is legalized it will still be illegal to grow so won’t stop them from chasing grow ops one iota
2)hear this a lot how pot calms you down and gives you the minchies – look at a few of the rulings from judges in the past week – the last one being a couple buds smoking a reef and one stabbing the other
3)see point 1 – they will still grow illegally, you say gov’mt will sell cheaper than they can make a profit selling illegally, I say bung to you on that, they used to make profit at 80 bucks an ounce
4)best way to make more profit for growers is to allow people to legally carry it
supertech: in a poll this past April some UNBC students say PG is 68% in favour of safe injection sites. I think they had a presentation for city council so we may see one pop up soon in the downtown unless the Green Machine can put on the brakes. Once the doors open even the government will be powerless to close it due to opinion polls.
apoliticalgeek: your link to the UK study finds Ecstasy, LSD, Methadone, Butane(?) and GHB are even better than MJ so why don’t we start with legalizing those?
