I wonder what happened in Red Deer to make it the homocide capital?? I also wonder if the number of drunks and druggies relates to our rating?

Cannabis possession? Move to Washington State and drop some more of our tax base. ;-)

You know, those people in Belleville need to get some cannabis and their sexual assault rate will go down … *s*

Red Deer? Isn’t that one of the popular places for PG residents to move to? Got to make it look like home …..

Seriously, the thing about small towns is that the rate fluctuates greatly due to the low sample numbers. So, lots of relatively high peaks and low valleys.

1 homicide in a town of 2,000 immediately creates a rate of 1/2,000. One in a city of 80,000 is a rate of 1/80,000

While there are the same number of homicides in each community, the rate of the small town is 40 times as high as the larger city.

Right you are Gus, Prince George will continue to place high on this list due to the size of Prince George relative to the size of many of the other Cities we are compared against. The numbers often skew to make the crime rates appear higher in smaller areas.

I certainly don’t feel remotely unsafe living here in PG compared to Kamloops or Kelowna.

Would be interesting to see metro Vancouver taken as a whole instead of individual towns. No boundaries between towns down there anymore,it is just one big gross area of humanity.

Not sure how ranking 4th in cannabis possession makes us a dangerous place. I don’t see the danger in eating Doritos while staring at the ceiling. :)

The prevalence of sexual assualt in this community is frightening and embrassing – and this is not just a problem for drug and gang circles. Women and children in Prince George are the victimes of violence far too often, and no blaming of Macleans with improve that. Kudos to the RCMP for bringing in a special officer to deal with domestic assualt. I hope that helps improve the situation, but there is still more work to be done.

So men don’t count?

Sorry for adding to the stats last year, This year i promise to be a good boy.
