Saturday, December 8, 2012 @ 4:41 AM
Prince George, B.C. – It’s a day those who enjoy skating in the great outdoors have been looking forward to.

The outdoor ice oval, located behind CN Centre, officially opens at 10 this morning. The City of Prince George and the volunteers of the Outdoor Ice Oval Society are inviting everyone to come out and enjoy a skate on a great outdoor surface.   Mayor Shari Green and members of City Council will be on hand for the opening.
Ice-making for the oval’s 14th season of operation has been going on since November 22nd, with 82,000 gallons of water delivered to the venue.

Skating for today’s opening is absolutely free (normal entry fees are $2 per person or $5 per family), and there will be hot chocolate available to keep everyone warm.
