Search for Clearwater Teacher Expanded
Clearwater, B.C.- Clearwater RCMP along with the Department of Fisheries will continue their search along the North Thompson River for missing Clearwater teacher, Courtney Buck.
Search and Rescue have exhausted their efforts after their team and the RCMP Underwater Recovery Unit located the vehicle belonging to Skye and Courtney Buck submerged in 12 feet of water, 20 meters from the shoreline. The couple’s vehicle skidded off Highway 5, rolled down a 30 meter embankment then crashed into the North Thompson River on Sunday evening.
The body of Skye Buck was located inside the vehicle but Courtney Buck is still missing.
The RCMP Dive Team is using sonar equipment in areas where it is too dangerous for the team to descend, due to the fast current and the river’s unpredictable environment. An extensive search around the vehicle and river’s edge was unsuccessful in locating the missing passenger.
"RCMP Air services has been deployed and will be conducting an aerial search of the river while Department of Fisheries from Clearwater and Kamloops will be patrolling with river boats in hopes of finding Courtney" says
Cst. Lesley Smith, North District Media Relations Officer.
