Now you tell me LOL
Exactly!!! .. I suppose when environment Canada often gives out warnings which do not amount to anything, they could miss the prediction the other way as well.
Must come from being surrounded by mountains.
already have at least 15 cm this morning…:) I love winter.
We all expect all these people to be able to predict the weather for the next two weeks, and just because it is in print, or on the internet it is goig to happen like a tv program.
In reality, they are only prediction of what will likely happen.
Forecasting the next 24 hrs, they are useally accurate 95% of the time.
Forecasting the next 48 hrs, not bad, at least one is warned that a system is coming in.
Forcasting 72 hrs, similar to above but less accurate.
Anything beyond that is about a 50% accuracy.
70% probability of precipitation does not mean it will rain 70% of the time. It means it has 70% chance of it even raining for 5 minutes.
if you really want to know what is going to happen, find out what is happening in Vanderhoof, and you will know what is going to happen here, in about two hours.
I wonder sometimes if YRB checks out the weather reports.
Yup, The weather outside is frightful–isn’t just in a song. So slow down, and drive according to conditions, you all!!!!
And turn on your headlights! It’s really hard to see snow-covered gray, white or black vehicles with no headlights in these conditions. Do you people not ever think about anyone else on the roads besides yourselves?
I’d like to see the cop car that went by with no headlights follow this rule too.
Wow, 4 to 6 inches of snow predicted and it constitutes a snow warning. Slow down and drive safe and clear your driveway so you can get out to the street. I remember, back in the day……….. The city has cleared my street three times this winter when it didn’t need it. The last was late last week when a grader and front end loader came by to clear the sand off the road from the last snowfall. Now that we have a good dump I wonder if the service will be the same. Happy winter. I love it.
Since we are getting a bunch of snow I would encourage everyone to be helpful in offering to clear the snow from sidewalks for the seniors and handicapped who are your neighbours. Tis the season and I’m sure they will be most happy to see you.
So, the idiot on the bicycle coming off Davis Drive this morning onto Ospika, rides his bike through the crosswalk and stops at the median where he remains seated on his bike waiting for traffic to clear so he can continue on his way. There were about 10 vehicles in my group taking up both lanes coming down the hill towards the crosswalk.
Some people are brain dead. Brakes lights coming on all over the place and all hell breaks loose. Since when do you stop for a cyclist crossing on a crosswalk. The cyclist is supposed to be following the rules of the road the same way a motor vehicle is. Idiots!
If you don’t know the rules of the road stay home, you are endangering other peoples lives!
To the cyclist, what part of riding your bike on one of our busiest city streets during a raging snow storm seems like something one of sound mind would do?
I’m with you sarahsmith70, turn your freaking headlights AND tail lights on for crying out loud!!
To the gentleman that I pulled up beside at Central and 5th this morning, it would probably be easier for you to reach your headlight switch if you got your dog off of your freaking lap! I can’t believe the number of stupid people that I see driving around with their dogs on their laps! Can’t believe that I have to share the roads with these idiots!!
Driving is an inherently dangerous activity at the best of times. Come on people, turn your lights on, clear off your windows, headlights and taillights, stay off of your cell phones and leave your pets at home!!
Ya should have warned me seven years ago that you had winters here I might of…Nahhhh I would have moved here anyway.
Yes, please help people clear their walksways and driveways. Many people can’t and are stuck inside for days on end when the snow is like this. And please, City of Prince George, pay attention to the sidewalks. We pay taxes too.
Dragon master – I would assume the cars stopped for the cyclist because they probably thought that anyone sitting on a bike in the middle of busy road is probably a complete moron and likely to dash out in front of a moving vehicle.
It’s easier to just stop then it is to call an ambulence a getting you hood and windshield fixed
And stop taking up both lanes.
Dragnonmaster, I once saw a guy riding his bicycle down the Hart Highway during a massive snow storm. Right on the highway, making traffic have to move over for him. Couldn’t believe it. Some people have a deathwish.
To add to the list of winter driving tips: don’t tailgate. If the guy in front of you has to stop suddenly, and you cannot predict that, you will not stop in these conditions. Can’t belive how many people I see driving up the Hart Highway tailgating other vehicles. Common sense people.
Over half the drivers in this town are to lazy to sweep the snow off of their vehicles, so asking them to turn on their headlights and use the signal indicator is completely out of the question.
Maybe the thought process is if the windows are covered in snow we can’t see them texting.
I’m driving along Ospika this afternoon and what do I see? Some guy ahead of me driving a newer white Ford pickup driving in the inside lane, in the deep snow right up against the curb, all the way from CN Center south to Dufferin Ave. He was actually rubbing the snow completely off the curb with his tires and was losing control at times. He had to have destroyed his tires and wheels on the left side.
People stupid enough to ride a bike in the winter, against traffic rules should become a hood ornament sooner or later.
I see on the tube that this is considered a SEVERE snow warning. Severe??? Toronto has had worse this year than us. I guess in the 70’s everyday here should have been a severe snow warning because it snowed 2 feet every day for a month. Couldn’t see the houses — only the driveways; which we had to clear ourselves. The population was just as big then but we didn’t have so many dumb drivers. You people who train these drivers should turn in your certificate and switch to driving taxis for a living.
