Highway 97 Closed South of Prince George
Prince George, B.C.- One person is in hospital with serious injuries following a crash this morning south of Prince George.
Highway 97 remains closed about 3 kms south of Prince George and there is no detour.
Although the investigation is on going, police say at this point it appears two vehicles tried to pass a slow moving vehicle near Holmes Road around 7:15 this morning.
The first vehicle that tried to pass clipped the slow moving vehicle and flipped ending up sideways on the highway. The second vehicle that tried to pass the slower moving vehicle ended up in the ditch and the driver had to be cut out of the vehicle.
The highway is expected to reopen in about an hour.
Further details will be released once investigators have returned from the scene.

Forgot to chect the blind area of the vehcle before returning to the proper lane by the looks of things (or too much in a hurry or combination of both).
Gee, maybe there was a reason the other vehicle was moving slower? Drive to the conditions, dumbasses.
That is a construction zone at the moment with barrier ans wider road whithout pavement … don’t know how they have plowed the snow.
If the vehicle passing on the left did not see the turn signal because it was covered with snow and the highway ahead was clear it would have been reasonable to pass on the left.
If a vehicle is making a left hand turn, passing on the right is allowed. Again, the road is under construction … with the new snow, who knows where the ditch is. Where did the highways crew plow the snow to in that area?
In all cases proceed with caution …..
Gus, it it illegal to pass in a construction zone.
Another theory, the vehicle which was supposedly passing on the left may not have noticed the truck slowing in time, maybe traveling a bit fast for conditions and couldnt slow down in time and took the left to avoid a rearender, no realizing the truck was turning? The vehicle which went right may have been trying to avoid the 1st collision and simply went the other direction.
