One In Hospital After Three Vehicle Crash

Saturday, December 15, 2012 @ 11:57 AM
Prince George- One person is in hospital after a three vehicle pile up at around 7.15 this morning, 3 Kilometres south of Prince George, at the intersection of highway 97 and Holmes Rd.
A low bed was making a left hand turn at the intersection when an SUV attempted to pass on the left hand side clipping the rear of the unit and sending that vehicle into the ditch.
A pickup truck then tried to pass on the right hand side but clipped the rear right hand side of the low bed causing the truck to rollover into the ditch. A passenger in that vehicle had to be cut out of the vehicle and was taken to hospital with injuries.
The highway was closed for two hours while the crash scene was cleaned up.

A double rearender. Charges to both drivers including one of passing on the right?

Unless the low bed was in a left turn lane?

Charges to the low bed driver for tail lights not visible?

Everyone just slow the f down its bad road conditons?

Stop tailgating and don’t pass when someone’s turn signals are on. Also, if the turn signals are obscured by snow or dirt, you need to figure out why someone is going so slow all of a sudden e.g. there’s a road to turn into, I wonder if they are turning there?

In the alternative, use your turn signals people. That way people know what you are about to do.

I agree with Potholes, slow down, it’s icy and snowy out there.

From what I saw last night, it seemed like it must be a full moon or something! Something was affecting a lot of people. It wasn’t nice.

A lot of keystone kops on here.

Albus Antiquus Vir, I am just using this as an opportunity to remind people that they need to be more vigilant when driving. I think most of us see stupid driving stunts everyday that make us fear for our lives sometimes.

Saw a driver go like hell to pass me on Massey. Got into the left turn lane at Ospicka then made a U’ee and went back down Massey. Wonder what this person was on.
Cheers

When entedring a green lighted intersection cover your brakes, defensive drivers live longer. Take care everyone this festive season.

How about the morons on the Hart that pass me when i`m doing 80 km in the slow lane{sidewalk lane},then jumps on brakes turns right within one block,, i am one second behind can`t move left because of traffic so i need to brake,, said morons gained one secound.Am i the only person this happens to ?

or the idiot women drivers that figure it’s time to turn on the signal light as yer turning… (ahhahah) I’m sure I’ll hear a lot bout this :)

Guess the road budget is already empty. the main roads aren’t even done let alone the roads in the Hart or CH.. Good thing we got lotta outta towners this weekend to tamp down the snow since our City is saving money for when the snow is all gone to plow it..

When driving a car you should be prepared to adjust speed and/or direction as changing conditions warrant. You must anticipate new conditions at any time by scanning around the vehicle to determine whether you have to adjust speed and/or direction to mitigate a potential incident.

I believe that assuming that a reduction in speed rather than an increase in speed will avoid or mitigate the outcome of an emerging incident is not driving defensively.

Gus, it’s called situational awareness, and concentrating on the skills needed for the task at hand. BUT, we live in PG, not Gander.
Too many cell phone towers too.

Surefire nailed it.

one wonders if the signal lights on the rigs trailer were visible. vehicles now are equipped with L E D lamps for less electrical draw. all well and good, but they do not give off heat, unlike the old timey incandescent bulbs, which would melt snow and ice off of them. that is why so many vehicles are not visible after a snow storm. many times, new fangled equals stupid.

I`v only been here for 7 years and when I see a tractor trailer slowing down and I cant see a signal I give them time to make their move.It really doesn`t take them that much time to get out of your way but if you let them execute there move with out getting in the way things go a lot smoother.

gus, I’m pretty sure it’s a given that in these types of conditions(snowy and icy) slowing down is safer. Yes, there are times when hitting the gas pedal gets you out of the way of harm but generally, driving fast on these conditions will get you into more trouble than driving slowly. What did you do? Type directly out of the driver’s manual?

onefingertyper, you’re not the only one. I can’t count how many times I get tailgated doing 80 kph (10/20 over the limit) in the slow lane on the Hart Highway. Tempting to follow some of these people and ream them out when they reach their destination.
