Dr. Kathy Lewis Awarded Queen’s Medal
Prince George, B.C. – She is one of the founding professors at UNBC and a key researcher on forestry and her work has earned her a Queen’s Diamond Jubilee medal.
UNBC President, George Iwama, made the presentation to Professor Kathy Lewis saying Dr. Lewis " has excelled at teaching, research, and service both to UNBC, and to the Province of BC. She is an exceedingly well-regarded and talented academic, who has excelled in the classroom and had a significant impact of the teaching of her subject across Canada, and her research has been acknowledged as critical for BC’s economic well-being in the forest sector.”
Dr. Lewis didn’t know she had been nominated for the award, "It came as a complete shock. I thought there must have been another ‘Kathy Lewis’ present who was being honoured,” says Dr. Lewis. “I would like to thank the University for this Award and Dr. Iwama for taking the time to present me with the honour.”

Excellent choice! Congrats! A very humble individual who goes quietly about doing her work. Exactly the type of individual who most deserves to be recognized in such a way.
