Merry Christmas from Prince George-Peace River MP Bob Zimmer
Monday, December 24, 2012 @ 10:56 AM
After an extremely busy fall, Christmas is happily upon us again. Regardless of our religion or beliefs, Christmas is a very special time of year when we can come together, appreciate and celebrate with our loved ones the joy and peace of the holidays.
All too often we (I am including myself) can get caught up in the less than peaceful material side of Christmas – the last minute shopping, late night wrapping, and the baking and cooking – that it is easy to lose sight of what makes this time of year so special.
Christmas is about spending time with our loved ones – especially those who we are unable to see as often as we would like – and remembering those we have lost. It is about helping those who are less fortunate, whether though volunteering or by giving back to the many worthy causes which lend a helping hand to those in our communities. Thanks to all of you who contribute in your own way to making our country a better place. You go to work to provide for your families and our country. You make our world a better place and we appreciate what you do!
And a special thanks to our men and women in uniform at home and those overseas not able to be home with their loved ones so that we may spend our time with family and friends in peace. A peace that is beyond the reach of so many around the world and that we are truly blessed to have.
It is also a time to celebrate and give thanks for what the previous year has brought us, while looking forward with hope to what the future has in store.
I’ll finish by repeating some timeless words that have remained with us over the centuries that remind us of the reason for the season.
“Now there were in the same country shepherds living out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night. And behold, an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were greatly afraid. Then the angel said to them, ‘Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be the sign to you: You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a manger.’ And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying: ‘Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!’” Luke 2:8-14 (NKJV)
From my family and staff to all of you, Merry Christmas.
-Bob Zimmer

Thanks Bob, best wishes to you and yours as well.
Thank you Bob Zimmer for that great Christmas message. You are doing a great job for us as our MP. We wish you and your family a wonderful Christmas and urge you to find time to take a little rest in preparation for the next half of your session.
Thanks Bob and all our best wishes to you, your family and the team that you lead. May the New Year bring peace to many other people as well.
Good story. Is there any doubt Mathew, Mark, Luke and John controlled the opeum trade in the Middle East. How do you think they could afford the two hump camels.
middle finger…your comment is not only rude but ignorant as well. Your intolerance is sad and very telling.
I do hope that somehow you will find some joy, somewhere, this Christmas season.
gimmeabreak:
It was a fantastic day, thanks for the wishes. Intolerant, hardly. I believe people should be able to pray to what ever book they desire, just please, don’t come knocking on my door. I believe there is still a place for people like yourself in the modern world. If it wasn’t for people like yourself spreading the word of immaculate conception, how can we ever expect people to believe in Santa Claus or the Easter Bunny ?
Or a better question….why is the Pope not mentioned in the Bible.
Idle no More…..
The very best thing you could do for us is to walk across the floor and sit as an independent. When your boss gets finished with us, all of Canada will be sold out.
For many of us, the only reason Harper’s government got our vote, is because the word Conservative is in the party name, and many of us have always voted Conservative. The party strategists were so smart to do that, instead of calling it Reform or Alliance or something else.
Who would have guessed that a party of that name could stray so far from the Progressive Conservative Party.
Darn, I was really hoping for an answer on that Pope question.
“Iâll finish by repeating some timeless words that have remained with us over the centuries that remind us of the reason for the season.”
Actually the festival season existed before the Christians latched onto it.
Those festivals are reported a being associated with the winter solstice but hey, who cares about truth in advertising.
“After an extremely busy fall …. “
I am waiting for the time when a federal politician representing Prince George and area would write something like:
“After a very relaxing fall which allowed me time to quietly meditate and reflect upon the issues facing the future of a part of the country in need of some help from the federal government …… “
