Woman Transported To Vancouver After Stabbing

Friday, December 28, 2012 @ 12:35 PM

Prince George, BC –  Prince George RCMP say a woman was transported to hospital in Vancouver early this morning after she suffered a stab wound to her neck late last night…

RCMP say the 21-year-old woman is in serious condition.  She was originally taken to UHNBC by ambulance after officers received a report of a stabbing in a residence in the 200-block of Ruggles Street just after 11pm, where they discovered the victim.

Media Liaison Officer, Corporal Craig Douglass, says, "A short time later, a 34-year-old male suspect was arrested on the 2100 block of Upland Street without incident and remains in custody."

Corporal Douglass says the Prince George RCMP’s Serious Crime Section has been called in to lead the investigation.  He says it does not appear that the victim and the suspect had any relationship, but says further information will be released as it becomes available.

Anyone with information about this serious offence is asked to call the Prince George detachment at 250-563-3300, or contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

Prince George’s newly elected mayor, Shari Green, is planning more programs for youth in her city as part of work to lower crime statistics.

“The city will also continue to focus on supporting programs that educate youth and different community programs that keep kids away from drugs and gang activity,” said Green.
