New Tour For Government’s Job Fairs
Prince George, BC – Back by popular demand: the Ministry of Jobs, Tourism and Skills Training is launching a new series of job fairs across the province…
This past fall the ‘BC Jobs Start Here’ made stops in 24 communities between September and November, with more than 31-thousand British Columbians of all ages attending.
"From public feedback, we know that British Columbians found the job fairs to be helpful in a number of ways," says minister responsible, Pat Bell. "For connecting face-to-face with employers, for practising interview skills, for finding out what jobs and skills are in demand, and even for learning more about BC’s economy."
This next tour will stop in 22 communities from the beginning of January until March, with an added ‘Skills4BC’ booth on-site with staff to answer questions about skills training in BC. Other exhibitors include post-secondary institutes, training authorities, industry associations, health authorities, and local WorkBC Employment Services Centre reps. The new fairs are estimated to cost $500-thousand dollars and will bring the total cost of the ‘BC Jobs Start Here’ fairs and mobile exhibit to $1.68-million dollars.
Prince George is this encore list of tour dates, with a fair set in the city on March 14. Other regional stops include: 100 Mile House (Mar 7), Barriere (Mar 5), Quesnel (Mar 12), Smithers (Mar 19), and Terrace (Mar 21).
