Prince George, B.C. – Prince George Spruce Kings’ defenseman Mitch Eden has a scholarship commitment to St. Lawrence University and the Saints men’s hockey team. St. Lawrence University is a NCAA Division I school located in Canton, New York and plays out of the ECAC Division.
Eden, an off-season acquisition of the Spruce Kings, is an 18 year-old from Bracebridge, Ontario. Currently leading the Spruce Kings with points, Eden is also second among defenseman in the BCHL with 2 goals and 26 assists in 33 games.
“I am very excited to have committed to SLU,” says Mitch Eden. “I really like their academic program and hockey program and it is close to my hometown. I want to thank Mike Hawes and the Prince George Spruce Kings for the opportunity they have given me.”
“As an organization we are very happy for Mitch that he was able to achieve his goal of securing an NCAA Division 1 Scholarship,” said Spruce Kings General Manager, Mike Hawes. “This was part of the reason that Mitch wanted to come to our team and the BCHL when he and I spoke last summer. Mitch has demonstrated that he is a premier defenseman in our league and is very deserving of this honour.”
Eden becomes the first Spruce Kings player to secure a NCAA Division I scholarship in 2013 and is now the fifth committed player on the team’s active roster along with Coltyn Hansen, Jace Hennig, Kevin Guiltinan and Cameron Lawson.
