Prince George Marks the Passing of Dr Jack

Prince George, B.C. – Residents of Prince George are mourning the passing of one of the stalwarts of the local civic and medical community.
 
Dr. Jack McKenzie passed away yesterday with family at his bedside. 
Jack McKenzie is considered the “father” of family practice in Prince George. Accordingly the family practice centre in the city is named after Dr. Jack.  He was  inducted into the Northern Medical Hall of Fame in April of 2009.

He is also well-known for his philanthropy and, following his retirement, dedicated much time and effort to the seniors in the community. He was a leader of the Elder Citizens Recreation Association and led the completion of their expansion project in 2006. He was also an Honourary Director of the Prince George Community Foundation and a patron of the Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation.

 

Dr. McKenzie’s son Gerard is a well-known orthopedic surgeon. His daughter Kathleen Soltis is the Acting City Manager with the City of Prince George.
