Rear Ender for School Bus
Monday, January 14, 2013 @ 3:56 PM
Prince George, BC- Four students on a school bus got to practice their emergency training this afternoon.
They were on a bus eastbound on highway 16 when the bus was rear ended.
No one was injured.
RCMP say the bus was slowing to make a stop at Geddes Road around 2:42 this afternoon when the small passenger car following the bus was not able to stop in time.
The bus driver was able to tell the four students on board to prepare for the impact which turned out to be more of a " bump" as the small car slid under the back end of the bus.

Yup, Glad the bus driver and kids were safe, but the driver of the vehicle doing the rear ending had to be texting, having sex behind the wheel, really drunk or totally blind.
A BIG YELLOW BUS WITH 14 GIANT RED AND ORANGE LIGHTS ON THE BACK OF IT THAT YOU CAN SEE FROM THE MOON ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE PLANET…anyways probably not paying attention.
or it was very slippery.
Biggest problem with driving is not concentrating on the task you’re doing.
EHHHH EVERYBODY, POINT AND LAUGH AT THE IDIOT!!!
The car is lucky it didn’t go right under the bus. I guess just like seat belts, the metal guards used on the back of all semi trailers to prevent cars from going right underneath them are not required on buses?
School buses should not be permitted to stop on any hwy.
@Dragonmaster, I think they`re required to stop when an idiot not paying attention drives underneath the bus.
total undue care and attention.
surely every driver knows it’s slippery as hell out there.
wow – Blame the bus, blame the roads, blame anyone but the idiot in the car…. wow
I would guess that the driver of the car was following too close to the bus hoping for a chance to pass it when the bus driver began to slow down to turn on to Geddes Rd from the highway. Someone not driving to conditions and also driving dangerously IMO.
wow – shame on anyone for commenting on other aspects of an incident. A complete lack of safety related thought in some peoples minds….wow.
yup you are right, complete lack of safety – following to close, driving to fast for conditions, take your pick… banning school busses from the highway is not the answer for accidents like this, thats a typical knee jerk reaction.
Hi-lite the N or L
Funny how so many people will not put one wheel on the shoulder or center line when trying to stop in conditions like this. They stay right on the most slippery part of the road. Looks like this person tried that though. Might have been able to swerve to the left to avaid an impact unless there was oncoming traffic. Maybe the snowbank would have been a better choice.
Looks like that black strip on the baxk of the bus is kind of useless in this incident.
I wonder what its purpose is supposed to be?
Just thought I`d add this short tutelage.
You know if this was a result of distracted driving maybe the consequences should be made the same as impaired driving/24 hr suspensions, impounded vehicles, suspended driving privileges.
opps, forgot to add the link.
