Prince George, B.C.- RCMP in Prince George have made an arrest in their investigation of a recent suspicious incident.
The case involved a complaint from a 15 year old female who was walking to Duchess Park Secondary School last Wednesday. She told police she had been approached, and then followed by a man in a dark coloured Ford Explorer. She told police the same man had done this twice before in the past month.
Information was provided to police that led investigators to a 52 year old male resident of the City. Last evening, he was taken into custody, but released a short time later with a number of conditions including:
- No contact with the victim;
- Not to be found alone with anyone under the age of 19;
- Not to be found within 50 metres of any school property, swimming pool or playground where children under the age of 19 may be found.
Investigators will be recommending a charge of Criminal Harassment to Provincial Crown Counsel. Once a charge or charges have been approved, the name of the accused will be released.
The accused is scheduled for court on February 20th, 2013.
Prince George RCMP would like to encourage anyone that is confronted or followed by unknown persons, to call 9-1-1 immediately.

This is scary. I really feel for the girl and her family. Criminial harrassment typical comes with a sentence of probation and the process itself will give the accused even more access to the victim in all likelihood, potentially feeding his obsession, if that indeed is what’s going on.
My advice to the parents – move. Leave this town. Nothing would be worth staying and risking your child falling victim to some sort of predation.
It says right in the news item, that once he has been charged, THEN he will be named. Once he is under probation, it is very easy to get further charges applied if he tries to make contact again. Don’t worry, the police will be watching this guy now. Not only that but his identity will be out in the public an anyone who knows of him will keep watch as well.
Sorry BCRacer, this is Canada. You can’t tar and feather someone in the media because of suspicious activity. If he’s guilty of something he can be tried and convicted and then you’ll get your media circus.
Sounds like someone with a history of offense. I hope the charges go through.
This incident adds a new aspect to a recent debate on CBC about cellphones, teen, and GPS tracking units parents can use. As much as cellphones, teenagers and hovering parents make a bad mix, they really do reduce the threat posed by a creep like this.
“alleged creep”. We still have the rule of law here in Canada. For now.
