Coastal Gas Office Space Approved

Prince George, B.C. – Coastal Gas Link has been given the green light to set up it’s new Northern B.C. office in the new building on Kinsmen Place facing 5th Avenue.
 
The applicant wants to lease 488 square meters in the building which is home to a new dental clinic.
 
 Coastal Gas Link would like to have enough space for 20 office and field employees to serve its business throughout the north.
 
Speaking on behalf of the applicant, Claire Negrin says the applicant  understands the City would prefer to have office space of this size located in the downtown but,  “there is a disconnect between what they want and what is available in the downtown.”   The latest vacancy study on available properties is not yet ready, but Ian Wells,   who heads the City’s Planning Department,   says it is thought   there has been an improvement  in use of space in the downtown.
 
While City staff recommended the variance permit be denied, Council has approved the variance.

Up till when I moved fromm PG, seemed like the absorption of office space in downtown was going quite well. Developers may need to think of building a new or expand on office tower in the area.
