No Damage in Fire In BCR Site

Prince George- No injuries in a structure fire in the 7600 block of Pacific Street in the BCR Site overnight.
The broke out in the building just after 2.00am. It was located in an area were crews had been working with cutting torches earlier in the day to remove steel plates from the floor.
Because this was a salvage operation no damage was reported.

I wondered what was going on out there.
Now I know.
Surely there must have been some damage, something had to have burned to create a fire.
He Spoke retread the article
“Because this was a salvage operation no damage was reported.”
It does not say there was no damage … it says none was reported.
Unless one wants to create something like charcoal, fire normally results in damage ….. even if it is to “salvageable” items which have a value to them for recycling.
However, if it was going to go to the dump, a tipping fee and transportation costs may have been avoided since the stuff went up in smoke and polluted the air.
;-)
Oh, and there may have been fire services costs ….. I smell a user fee coming up for companies who should know better to prevent such fires.
Do welders get any training in fire prevention on the job such as people working in the forest get, as a for instance.
:-)
It was workers with cutting torches, not necessarily certified welders… being a salvage operation I would guess not. Good welders are too hard to find to have them out cutting up scrap with a torch LOL
Fire watch and hot work permits are required for a reason. What happened here?
