Local Hockey Coach Awarded Diamond Jubilee Medal

Prince George, B.C.- Another member of the Prince George community has been awarded a Queen’s Diamond Jubilee medal for his contribution to sport in Prince George.
Brian Toll was awarded the medal prior to Wednesday evening’s Cougars’ game at the CN Centre.
Toll, a retired high school principal, has more than 30 years of coaching experience at the rep and house level in the Prince George Minor Hockey Association.
He has also worked at various hockey schools and coaching clinics and is most known as a Power Skating coach.

Interesting to note that another local athlete also was awarded this medal today…Pat Harris whos made all the difference in the world for para sports in this town. It would be nice to see a story about him on here.
I remember Toll yelling at a group of 7 and 8 year old kids because they weren’t skating as well as he was. Yeah, this guy is worthy of recognition. :rolleyes: Nothing but an over inflated ego in my opinion.
Congratulations Brian, I have seen first hand the difference you can make to our kids in hockey. On ice skills and discipline that never got them to the NHL but left them with have great memories and made them better young adults today in PG.

I can skate circles around this guy. He and the rest of his clique forgot a long time ago that this game was for the kids and not their egos. But hey, it’s long past being my issue.
