Assault Bears Similarities to Incident Before Christmas
Friday, January 25, 2013 @ 1:52 PM
Prince George, B.C. – The search is on for a suspect in an early morning incident in Prince George, an incident which bears similarities to one that happened Christmas Eve in Kispiox. (see previous story)
Around 4 this morning, RCMP officers responded to call from a 30 year old woman in the 20th Avenue and Quince Street area.
The woman told police she had been walking along Quince Street and was offered a ride by a man driving a burgundy minivan. The woman accepted the ride.
Shortly after getting into the vehicle, the driver began hitting her. She opened the door of the moving vehicle, and jumped out, ran to a nearby convenience store and called police.
The suspect is described as:
· Male between the ages of 40 & 50 years old
· Thick, scruffy beard and wiry, thick hair
· Over weight
· Smoker
· Dark around the eyes
· Wearing a black toque
The vehicle was described as:
· A burgundy minivan with a "pointy" front end
· Loud muffler
· Only one sliding door
"The Prince George RCMP treat these reports seriously" says Insp. Brad Anderson, Operations Officer for the Prince George RCMP. "We will thoroughly investigate this report, following up on all leads in order to identify and arrest the person responsible."
This incident is similar to one that happened Christmas Eve in Kispiox where a young female who was hitchhiking got into a mini van. She told police she became uncomfortable, and the driver refused to stop to let her out. She jumped out of the window of the vehicle when it slowed to cross a bridge. The driver kept going.
In both cases, the description of the van and the suspect are similar.
The RCMP would like to advise all persons, especially women, who are walking after dark, to be extremely vigilant and aware of their surroundings. Do not accept rides from people you do not know.
For added safety, police offer the following tips:
· Whenever possible, walk in groups. Avoid walking alone;
· Always tell someone reliable, where you are going and how long you’ll be. Call them when you get to your destination;
· If approached, go to the nearest public area or business and call police (9-1-1) immediately;
· Whenever possible, take note of any physical description of the suspect and/or vehicle.
If you have any information about this or any other Criminal offence, please contact the Prince George RCMP at (250)561-3300 or anonymously contact Crime Stoppers at 1(800)222-8477, online at www.pgcrimestoppers.bc.ca(English only), or Text-A-Tip to CRIMES (274637) using keyword "pgtips".

Dear god ladies, I know it can be cold out and you might be drunk but don’t ever accept a ride from a strange man.
Thank goodness she is safe!
Seriously ladies, quit getting into vehicles driven by strangers!
VERY SCARY!!!! Hope this creep is taken off the street for good.
Pepper spray is a good deterrent against dogs and bears, wish every woman was given a can,cause this type of Ahole is worse than an animal.Works real good on idiots who try and control their women too.
Too bad it’s not the old days where you have group of angry ppl looking for this guy. I have a few creative ideas of what I would like to do to him. Would describe but some ppl have weak stomachs. ;)
“Is there a “finders fee”?
Yep, too many Picktons out there.
Poolchick: “Too bad it’s not the old days where you have group of angry ppl looking for this guy.”
You mean lynch mobs? Ah yes, good times… good times.
I usually try to be the voice of sanity, sympathy, and an evidence=based approach to resolving issues, but this time I find myself on the side of the “Let’s take matters into our own hands” side. But mostly I’m with B’n’B and others who wonder why it is that anywoman would get into a vehicle with a stranger in this day and age.
JohnnyB, either you’re a true barsted or have one hell of an ironic sense of humour!
Wow, talk about poor judgement. Glad she’s OK but it sure is hard to feel sorry for her stupidity.
So are they looking for a white guy? Native? Asian? We can’t get a proper description for fear of offending someone. Politically Correctness gone too far…
You can’t teach common sense!
Cant be too many vehicles driving around at 4am. To bad the Police didnt spot this vehicle, especially since they probably have a discription of the vehicle from Kispiox.
She is so lucky that she jumped! Don’t take a ride from a stranger, ever! This is distressing. I really hope they find the sicko basterd. My daughter NEVER walks at night. And this is why! I told her that no matter what sort of trouble she thinks she’ll get in, to always ALWAYS call me for a ride. I will be right there for her. God. This makes me shiver.
Obviously getting into a car with someone you don’t know, is crazy, especially if you’ve read the news from anywhere, ever!
Most women don’t just hop into vehicles driven by strangers offering rides. This incident occurred at 20th & Quince, which is right on the Hooker Trail. Business deal gone wrong?
Krusty: “JohnnyB, either you’re a true barsted or have one hell of an ironic sense of humour!”
It’s the latter. I am not in favour of lynch mobs, as some seem to be.
I was going t5o sat sumpin but cherry beat me to it….
don`t these girls have pimps to take care of them???
amazing what the power of addiction will allow you to do, i hope incidents like this come as a learning experience and one changes the route of their destination. please get yourself the help you need cause life is much better FREE of addiction and hope you never put yourself there again.
What’s disgusting is some of the posts on here alluding to this victim being a hooker or being addicted to something. Take a look inside yourselves, then read the story again.
