Chetwynd TV Now Available in Newfoundland

Sunday, January 27, 2013 @ 5:26 AM
Chetwynd, B.C. –  Consider it "the little station that could".

CHET TV,  operated by the Chetwynd Communications Society , is now officially on Bell  Satellite TV throughout Canada.

Charles Lasser, President of the Society, welcomes the new coverage and says it is a milestone for the Society and the community “I remember when the late Sergeant Ray Cunningham drove up the mountain everyday with a stack of VHS videos because we had no television in the area, “he said. “We’ve come a long way and we’re proud.”
.
With a focus on local features, CHET TV has proven to be a positive way to  promote the community to  potential new residents.

Not long after the  Bell coverage started, ( January 17th)   the station started getting calls from all over the country, congratulating  the station  on it’s  nationwide presence.“Bell satellite is where I found out that you had copies of the old history book. I am amazed that the little town of Chetwynd has a channel!” Ken Plourde, a former resident wrote from Alberta.

If you have Bell Satellite,  you  can  find the station on channel 655.  Valemount’s community station is also broadcast on Bell Satellite.

Hay River is coming too ….

No hope of getting the same for PG, I assume. Shaw would not put its station program on Bell, would they? ;-)

Look at the amount of project detail for a new firehall Hay River shares with its citizens and the rest of the world.

Is there a lesson to be learned here about public access to information and I do not mean the lesson that the more one shares, the more scrutiny there will be and the more questions there will be.

Council is already micromanaging too much. Would not want the community to take on that role, eh? :-0

Too bad P.G. doesn’t have something out there. People everywhere would be able to see what a bumbling bureaucracy we have.

I know PGTV can be seen in Saskatchewan…

CKPG (the “new” name for PGTV) is on Bell express view…

And Shaw Direct, along with Dawson Creek, Kamloops, Terrace and Lioydminster.

I only watch sun.
