Prince George, B.C.- RCMP are responding to a crash on Highway 97, about 20 kilometers south of McLeod Lake.
Although not yet confirmed, initial reports indicate a semi and a second vehicle are involved in the crash.
Police advise that with freezing rain overnight, the roads are very slippery and request that drivers drive with extra caution.
Further details will be forthcoming as they become available.

Crossing my fingers all involved are okay. Nasty roads out there this a.m. Slow down today or don’t drive at all on the highways today.
“on Hwy 97 …. a semi and a second vehicle”
Who would have guessed ….
More and more large trucks on our hwy’s every day Gus. Many, many, many more yet to come too. Them being in many incidents out there surprises you? I bet here are more 4 wheeler crashes out there than heavy trucks.
“there”
IMO temperature is a factor in a lot of these accidents. It seems that we now spend about half the winter hovering a degree or two either side of zero. When I travel I keep a close eye on the outside temperature gauge as a drop of a degree can mean black ice where a 1/4 mile before it was bare or wet.
One other thing that drives me nuts is when two semis follow each other so close that if you attempt to pass you have to take them both, cream colored chip trucks are especially bad! Company should give the drivers a map to the pulp mill so they don’t have to hold hands all the way there:)
Call their dispatch and complain dodo!
The dragonmaster-baiter strikes again:P
Is the dispatch number positioned on the truck so it remains visible …. and does everyone have a hands free cell … and is cell coverage availabbel at all times, dodo?!!
Gus,
I traveled to Vanderhoof and back this morning during the worst of the freezing rain. 13 passenger vehicles involved in accidents or in the ditch including a 3 car collision on Potato Flats. No semi’s involved in any of the incidents. Guess what, none of the passenger vehicle incidents made the news.
Can you take a hint?
Oh, and to answer another of your questions gus, on that stretch of highway, from midnight till about 7am it is about 3 commercial vehicles to 1 passenger vehicle. Thats an estimate, but a fairly reliable one.
