Prince George, B.C.- The Downtown Business Improvement Association will appear before Prince George City Council this evening, asking Council to enact a new bylaw that will establish the DBIA for 5 years.
The current three-year bylaw will expire at the end of March.
The DBIA has prepared a draft budget which outlines it’s spending plans for the next five years, some of the highlights include:
· Projected revenue of just under 271 thousand this year (nearly $213 thousand to come from levy)
· 88,600 to be spent on beautification programs, including $30,600 for the Clean Team, $28,000 for flower baskets, $10,000 for public art and $20,000 for the façade program
· $36,000 on advertising and promotions ( that amount would more than double in 2014 as the Downtown preps for the Canada Winter Games)
· $30,000 for Summerfest
· $93,200 for general operations and administration costs ( includes wages and benefits)
The DBIA says it will soon establish a special committee that will work on opportunities for the 2015 Canada Winter Games and the City’s centennial celebrations which will also take place in 2015.

But will they cut the grass?
5 year plan… Waste lots of money … Try to sneak in the PAC.. And in 5 years when downtown is stiil the place to stay away from they will have another 5 year plan.. The cycle continues….
The city has in their budget to demolish the buildings just across from city hall. Guess that is to be where the new PAC goes?
Think not, costs on the rise and more cit tax increases, this is one outfit that needs to be chopped. Or the group will be hanging flowers on vacant buildings.
