Prince George, BC – Highway 16 East of Prince George has just re-opened, following a three-vehicle collision this afternoon that sent one person to hospital.
Prince George RCMP Media Relations Officer, Corporal Craig Douglass, says the crash involved a pick-up truck, a passenger car and a sport utility vehicle approximately 30-kilometres east of the city just before 3pm this afternoon.
Corporal Douglass says one person was transported to the University Hospital of Northern BC with what appeared to be serious injuries. He says once assessed at the hospital, those injuries were determined to be non-life threatening.
Highway 16 East was closed until just a short time ago to allow investigators to gather evidence at the crash scene.

I Travel this raod alot and theres someone doing 120 km plus large trucks included. There needs to be more cops on this road.
Yep. Always too darn fast for the conditions. Black ice is a killer and yet everyone thinks that it happens to someone else…
I agree doneright. More police on patrol and more tickets issued to those who drive unsafe.
There are a number of serious charges that can be assessed in addition to speeding.
1. Dangerous Driving
2. Driving without due care and attention.
3. Speeding
4. In some cases Criminal Negligence
The police need to be seen on the Highways, and seen writing tickets etc;
I drove all the way from Pr George to Vancouver on a number of occasions and the only police cars I seen were parked at the police stations.
No trucks, eh? … just them wee thingies …..
I rove all the way to Vancouver last week …. not one spot of black ice all the way.
Good grief. More cops? No amount of cops will ever stop accidents.
This gibberish every time someone is hurt, some accident happens, etc. shows the inability of critical thinking in our society.
No amount of legislation and no amount of cops will stop accidents from happening. Sometimes they just happen. My wife and I were driving back from Edmonton earlier this winter on dry and bare roads. Came up to a curve where I saw it was always in the shade, so slowed way down, and still hit a patch of black ice that took some effort to keep control. If ten cops had been in the area it would not have mattered a bit, as I was considerably under posted speed limits at that point, and just hit the ice.
If we’re into calling for more tax-payer money into solving the problem, I would rather see a more sand trucks out.
I agree jetstream that it is the inability of people to think about the consequences of high speed driving. That particular section of the road is straight and it never ceases to amaze me that people crash on this section. If a moose was involved, I could understand that but without a moose or other animal, then probably driver aggressiveness or inattention.
When I drove out that way on Friday morning, I came across 3 police vehicles. Adequately policed but you can’t police stupid.
In the past I was a truck driver. On that very stretch of road someone tried to pass me. When the driver stomped on the gas he spun out of control and hit the ditch. It took a while to stop and walk back to make sure the driver was OK. This happened several times over 10 years.
A word of advice . If a truck is going slow on a flat stretch of road in the winter, it’s probably too slippery to go any faster.
I’m not saying that is what happened in this case. I wasn’t there ,didn’t see it and am as clueless as the rest of you.
With all the imporvements cars and trucks have seen over the past decades, like better tires, brakes, steering and overall handling there should be fewer accidents. I think the problem is drivers going too fast. For all you who brag about getting here or there faster than it takes most others: that’s not cool. It’s reckless, macho stupidity. Slow down, show some respect for others.
Not paying attention while driving is the real problem.
I was in the lineup waiting for 2 hours. The road was generally good but slippery at the accident site. I drive that stretch of road weekly. People all need to slow down. I am surprised at how fast some are driving. Just because the max. is 100, does not mean you have to drive that fast.
