Suspect Arrested Following Alaska-to-Nelson Manhunt
Prince George, BC – It was a manhunt that involved Alaska State Troopers, the RCMP, Federal RCMP Border Integrity officers and the Canadian Border Service…
Lisims Nass Valley RCMP Sergeant Donovan Tait is just releasing information about the coordinated effort to track down a Ketchikan, Alaska man wanted in connection with a rash of break and enters in the US state.
Sergeant Tait says RCMP became involved when the suspect allegedly stole a boat and crossed the marine border into Canada. He says the suspect took refuge in small communities in the north and began hitchhiking through the area.
On January 24th, Sergeant Tait says alert CBSA agents at the Nelway land crossing, near Nelson, BC, took the suspect into custody without incident, after noticing suspicious activity and discovering the man was a passenger in a truck in their subsequent investigation.
"This was an example of the type of excellent partnerships between the RCMP, CBSA, and US Law Enforcement, which maximize our ability to improve public safety within our respective communities," says Tait.
45-year-old John Peter Ollivier is in custody and facing charges.

Excellent partnership? The guy made it all the way to the Border near Nelson.
That’s like the gas thief at Bednesti that was called in but made it all the way to downtown PG before a single cop was seen.
Now that’s what I call cooperation!
It’s frustrating when you see the lack of cooperation south of the border where every law enforcement agency is trying to protect their own turf and don’t pass information across agencies.
These guys done good, the more it’s done, the more dumbutts get busted.
Hey Don Tait, well done!
They got him and that’s good…Yes Dragonmaster THAT IS COOPERATION!!!
Please Dragonmaster, if you have a way that could have gotten him caught sooner…I’m sure the police would like to know so they can capture future suspects in YOUR time frame.
Dragonmaster, what difference does it make if the gas thief was caught in PG,Hixon or say Quesnel as long as he was caught. And how do you know that not a cop was seen before he got to downtown PG. Did not know you were privy to inside info.
If you knew the whole story you could make informed comments about it. You don’t know the whole story and that makes your comments pointless.
And you know the whole story, from what side. If it’s the suspect I would take whatever they said with a grain of salt.so I guess that would make your comments pointless.
